      I think his name was William. An abstract of his will follows: 25 Jul 1798: Will of William ROUSAN [aka ROUSSEAU] 19 Jun 1792, 25 Jul 1798 . Wife Priscilla to have land during her life, at her decease to be divided between 3 children - Henry, Margaret Combs, Nancy PETERS. Sons, John, William (wife Lydia), Henry (wife Sarah). Grandson, William ROUSAN (son of William), a Negro. Daughter Margaret Combs (wife of Ennis), a Negro. Dau. Susannah PAYNE and husband, Benjamin PAYNE, to have possession of a Negro. Daughter Nancy and husband, John PETERS, to have a Negro woman. Gr. Dau. Betsy KERR to have slave after decease of wife.

      THE NAME OF GOD, Amen, I ELIZA: LEWIS of Westmorland County being weak of body but of perfect sence & memory do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament.
      Item. I give and bequeath my Soul into the hands of God that gave it hopeing through his grace to receive redemption for my sins, and my body to the Earth to be decently buryed by my Exrs. hereafter mention'd
      Item. My desire is that my funerall charges and all my lawful debts shall be paid of my personal Estate.
      Item. I give to my Son, JOHN LEWIS, Negro Tom, Negro Moll & her increase after the date of this Will, as likewise my tract of land lying in County of PRINCE WILLIAM;
      Item. I give to my Son in Law, SURLES LEWIS, a Negroe boy named Will;
      Item. I give to the Son of KATHERINE GARROTT named JOHN, one Negro girl named Bell and in case he dies without heir, my desire is that this Negro & her increase go to BENJA: WOTON & his heirs;
      Likewise, I give to KATHERINE GARROTT, one feather bed & furniture, my mare bridle & saddle, 1 Cow & calf & a Chest.
      Item. I give to WILLIAM ROUSAW one Negro man, Dublin.
      I likewise give to his young Brother, JAMES ROUSAW, a Negro boy, Simon, & in case these Children before mention'd should die without heir, WILLIAM & JAMES, my desire is that both or either of the said Negroes return to WILLM. ROUSAWs Children.
      Item. My desire is that my Son, WILLM. ROUSAW, have the care of these Children, WILLIAM & JAMES ROUSAW, as likewise of their Estate given by me.
      Item. It is my desire that JOHN LEWIS have the (? thoids) of my moveable Estate.
      I ordain and appoint my Loveing Son, WILLIAM ROUSAW, my whole and sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament. As Witness my hand this 6th day of December 1750

      THIS INDENTURE made the eighth day of August in the twentieth year of the reign of our sovereign Lord GEORGE the Second and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty six Between ANDREW DALTON of the Parish of Hamilton in County of Prince William Planter and CATHERINE his Wife of one part and WILLIAM ROUSSAU of the same place Planter of other part. Whereas MICHAEL DERMONT late of the Parish and County aforesaid deceased was in his life time seized in Fee simple of one tract of land which was granted to him by the PROPRIETORS of the NORTHERN NECK being in the Parish & County aforesaid on the East side of TOWN RUN from the WHITE OAK CABBIN BRANCH to the LONG BRANCH going up to TOBIAS WOODs containing Two hundred and Fifty acres of land so being seized by his Last Will and Testament in writing hearing date the third day of February in the year one thousand seven hundred and thirty devised the said Tract of land to his Daughter CATHARINE (party to these presents) in Fee Tail as by the said Will more fully is contained and Whereas said ANDREW DALTON and CATHARINE his Wife have entered into the premises and being minded to sell the same and to bar the intail have suied out a Writ pursuant to an Act of Assembly in that case made in the nature of an Ad Nod damnum to the SHERIFF of said County of Prince William directed whereby it was commanded that by the oath of good and lawful men of his Bailiwic he should deligently enquire if it may be to the damage or prejudice of his Majesty or others if the said ANDREW DALTON and CATHARINE his Wife should sell the said tract of land To which Writ the SHERIFF of the said County answered that twelve good and lawful men of his County being sworn and charged upon their oath did say that it will not be to the damage of his Majesty if the said ANDREW DALTON and CATHARINE his Wife should sell the said tract of land in the said Writ mentioned but that it will be to the damage of the issue of the said CATHARINE and of those claiming in remainder and reversion and further the said jurors upon their Oath did say that the said land and appurtenances were then of the value of (blank) pounds good and lawful money of great Britain and is a separate parcel and not parcel of or contiguous to other intailed lands in the possession and Seizin of the said ANDREW DALTON and CATHARINE his Wife as by the said Writ and return remaining of record in the SECRETARY's OFFICE of this Colony
      Now This Indenture Witnesseth that said ANDREW DALTON and CATHARINE his Wife for the sum of Seven pounds Current money of Virginia hath sold unto the said WILLIAM ROUSSAU his heirs and assigns forever all that parcel of land being part of the above mentioned tract bounded beginning at a red Oak corner of the land conveyed by said ANDREW DALTON and CATHARINE his Wife to the said WILLIAM ROUSSAU (which is also part of the above menconed part) and extending thence along the line of the land of JAMES PETERS to a white Oak in a Valley thence down the Valley to the Run containing Twenty five acres Together with all the houses and appurtenances whatsoever belonging To Have and To Hold unto him the said WILLIAM ROUSSAU his heirs and assigns In Witness whereof the parties have set their hands and Seals

      THIS INDENTURE made the twenty fourth day of November in the XXIVth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord KING GEORGE the second and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Fifty Between JOHN LEWIS of the County of CAROLINE of one part and WILLIAM ROUSSAU of the County of Prince William Witnesseth that the said JOHN LEWIS for the natural love and affection which he hath and beareth unto said WILLIAM ROUSAU and of the sum of Ten shillings paid by the said WILLIAM ROUSSAU the said JOHN LEWIS hath granted unto the said WILLIAM ROUSSAU his heirs & assigns a parcel of land in the Parish of Hamilton & County of Prince William containing One hundred & Six acres and every right of said JOHN LEWIS in or to the said premises (which said parcel of land ANDREW DALTON and CATHARINE his wife conveyed to the said JAMES LEWIS of the County of Prince William by Indenture bearing date the ninth day of August in the year one thousand seven hundred & Forty Six) by said Indenture recorded in the County Court of Prince William being thereto had and the said JOHN LEWIS party to these presents as his Brother & heir at Law
      To Have and To Hold unto the said WILLIAM ROUSSAU his heirs and assigns forever, In Witness whereof the parties have set their hands and seals
