- Know all by these presents that I, Mary McGUIRE of Rich. Co., having been sickly for these eight years and unable to maintain and support myself for the world without the service and assistance of somebody to be with me to provide my necessaries, and my dau. Sarah, laboring under many and great hardships to perform the same, and knowing the pains she took, and seeing her dutiful behavior towards me, determined to pay her (rather than a stranger) the 250 lbs. of tobacco per annum which was the wages I must have given to another, which wages now amount to 2000 lbs. of tobacco and I being unable to pay the same without selling my est. which consists of the things hereafter mentioned...
I, the sd. Mary McGUIRE, for and in consideration of the above-mentioned services and towards the discharge of the above sd. 2000 lbs. of tobacco which I do hereby acknowledge to have been received, have bargained and sold unto my dau., Sarah BRUMBELOW, and do by these presents bargain, sell, and forever make over all and singular of the sd. goods and household stuff...to her my sd. dau. Deed. 23 JUN 1748/9. I, Mary McGuire, of RC, having been sickly for these 8 years past and unable to
maintain and support myself in the world without the service & assistance of somebody to be with me to provide
necessaries, and my daughter Sarah labouring under many and great hardships to perform the same, and I knowing
the pains she took, and seeing her dutyful behaviour towards me, determined to pay her (rather than a stranger)
the 250 pounds of tobacco per annum which was the wages I must have given to another, which wages now amount to 2000 pounds of tobacco, and I being unable to pay the same without selling my estate, which consists of the things hereafter mentioned, vizt. 1 feather bed and the things thereunto belonging, 1 large chest with some fev,
clothes and other things in it, 2 small boxes and one small chest with some trifels in them, 1 square looking glass,
and 2 tables, 1 large Bible, 6 flagg chairs, 1 pott and two pair pot hooks, a fire shovel and tongs and a small spitt, 2
pewter dishes, 4 plates, a salt and mustard pott, 2 sifters, which said goods and household stuff above mentioned
the said Mary McGuire for and in consideration of the above mentioned services, towards the discharge of the above said 2000 pounds of tobacco, which I doe hereby acknowledge to have received, have bargained and sold unto my said daughter Sarah Brumbelow and hereby these presents bargain, sell and forever make over all and singular the said goods and household stuff and every thing therein contained and every part and parcell thereof from me my heirs Executors and Administrators to her my said daughter Sarah Brumbelow her heirs and assigns forever in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seale this 23 day of June 1748/9.
