      Note:
WAS Nathaniel Thomas the same person as Nathan G. Thomas? Nathan G. Thomas m. [lic] 10 May 1782 FREDERICK CO. MD Clarissa/Clara Edelen, dau of Edward Edelen m. Susannah Wathen, sister of Clement Wathen. ALL or most of the 12 children of Nathan G. Thomas and Clarissa Edelen were born in Frederick Co. MD. This family removed to Boone Co. KY in 1810, where Nathan G. Thomas d. bef 20 Sep 1819. [I have often wondered what the middle name might be]

NOTE: There were Wilsons in FREDERICK CO. MD and some references show Mary Wilson as dau of John Wilson of FREDERICK CO. MD. This John Wilson is shown on a list of taxables [1733] in Monocacy Hundred [later Frederick Co. MD]; John Wilson signed a petition dated 16 Oct 1742 seeking creation of Frederick Co. from part of Prince George's Co.; On 25 Oct 1768 the Vestry of All Saints Parish [Frederick Co.] mentions a location where John Wilson and William Luckett live [today's Point of Rocks, a small town located on the Potomac River in Frederick Co. MD] Ref: Pioneers of Old Monocacy: The Early Settlement of Frederick Co. Maryland, 1721-1743 by Grace L. Tracey and John P. Dern.

NOTE: In a letter from his Uncle Levin Wailes to his nephew Rev. Lloyd Thomas wrote: "Your grandfather John Thomas married Mary Wilson of a highly respectable family in Montgomery Co. MD. Their residence was in Charles Co. MD [not exceeding two miles from the boundry between that county & Prince George's Co. The mansion house was on a level piece of ground not exceeding, I think one hundred paces in a Westerly direction from a hugh fountain of water as ever issued from the earth. No family in their time lived better. The public highway leading southward through this estate to Port Tobacco, the County town of Charles, passed with 200 paces west of the dwelling house. In Prince George's there is a place designated "cross roads"...the intersection of the road from Benedict to the city of Washington, by that from Magruder's Ferry on Patuxent River to Port Tobacco. Pursuing the latter road in a South Westerly direction, I think the distance from the cross road to the former resi!
dence of old Mr. Thomas cannot exceed three or four miles. I have been thus circumstantial to enable you, if business or inclination should ever call you in that neighborhood to find the birthplace of your father [Phillip Thomas m. Elizabeth Covington Wailes, sister of Levin Wailes]." [Ref: Gleaned from LETTER. MGSB Summer 1995, Vol. 36, Number 3]

FINAL NOTE: All of the above still does not entirely verify whether Nathaniel Thomas [who was the son of John Thomas and Mary Wilson] was the person called Nathan G. Thomas. There was William Thomas builder of "Deep Falls" b. 1714 Charles Co. MD; d. 25 Mar 1795 [WD 1757 at his residence "Deep Falls" aka "Wales" WAILES? (1680) [brother of John Thomas who m. Mary Wilson] who m. by 1751 Elizabeth Reeves b. abt 1714; d. 1808 [dau of Thomas Reeves of St. Mary's Co. MD m. Mary]. William Thomas and Elizabeth Reeves had 4 sons & 1 dau. Their son John Thomas m. Eleanor McGill. And their son Francis Thomas, Gov. of Maryland b. 3 Feb 1799 Frederick Co. MD; d. 22 Jan 1876; bur St. Mark's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Petersville, Frederick Co. MD m. Sally McDowell
