      Will of William Thomas, SMC, 2/28/1794-3/30/1795.
      Wife: Elizabeth Thomas, use of all of my lands during her widowhood or life; six negroes named Big Gerard, Little Gerard, Brutus, Sarah, Abba and Esther; my riding carriage; and two carriage horses forever.
      Son: William Thomas, all of my land in "Bashford Manor" which I bought from him reserving to my wife the use of it during her widowhood or life.
      Son: John Thomas, all of my other land, reserving to my wife the use of it during her life or widowhood, and a horse named Hyder Ale.
      Daughter: Betsy Courts, 16 negroes which I purchased at public sale of the estate of the late William Courts. Their names are Joe, Gustavus, Tom, Rachel, Molly, Gusty, Ben, Sam, Sally, Nace, Pen, Pat, Polly, James, George and Charity. She is to also have all the other property I bought at that sale except a parcel of sheep and two negroes named Nan and Silvia which I have already disposed of.

      To eldest son John, tract called "Ware," and my sword and kane two Negro boys,, Peter and Simon.
      To son Leonard, tract called "Bowling Green" 200 a., Negro man Ben and Negro man Jacob, 1/3 flock of sheep.
      To son James, Negro Nacy, Martha, 1/3 flock of sheep,
      To son William all other land, provided he pay to three brothers, John, James and Leonard, each 2000 pounds of tobacco.
      To son William, two Negro boys named Charles and James given In compliance with a letter sent by me to Thomas Reeves his wife's father upon the point of marriage betwixt my son William and his dau.
      Whereas my dau. Jane, wife to Edward Swann is deceased, therefore give to my grandau. Elizabeth wife of Thomas Adams whom I hereby appoint in her stead, one Negro girl Rebecca.

Dec 20, 1760 from William Thomas of St. Mary's County, to Benjamin King of CC, planter, for the yearly rents and covenants, the lease of a tract of land of 90 acres called Gravel Walk. Likewise, all that plantation on the north side of the main Road that crosses the main Run that divides CC and Prince Georges County, commonly called Thomas' Security, lying in CC. The lease starts next Jan 1 and is for the natural life of the sd King and the natural life of Elizabeth King, now wife to sd Benjamin King, paying yearly to sd William Thomas, the rent of 3000 lbs of inspected tobacco in 3 hogsheads and cask and 8 shillings sterling by Jan 1 yearly and over and above the same to keep the orchard yearly under a good fence with the same numbers of good growing trees as is now in sd orchard, and also the houses and inclosures sufficient.
