      1743-1747 Essex County, Virginia Will Book 7; [The Virginia Genealogist-John Frederick Dorman]; Page 501-04. Will of Cornelius Sale of the County of Essex, dated 3 April 1745.
      Unto my grandson William Sale half the land whereon my son Wm. lived purchased of Augustine Smith and the other half to my daughter in law Hannah Blackbourne during her natural life and after decease to my grandson William Sale, Hannah to have the plantation into her part.
      To my grandson £5 at my wife's death.
      Unto my son Anthony Sale £5 at my wife's death.
      Unto my son John Sale all the lands I bought of Majr. Robert Brooke with all that part of the tract whereon I now live which lyeth on the west side of the main road that leads from Garnett's Mill to the range.
      To my son John Sale one Negro boy George.
      Unto my son Cornelius Sale all the lands I bought of Francis Pagit and Daniel Tucker and all my other lands not before bequeathed after my wife's decease. But if Cornelius should depart this life without issue all said lands to my son Thomas Sale, but if he die without issue to my son John Sale.
      To my son Cornelius Sale £5 at my wife's death.
      My son Thomas Sale have the use of my dwelling plantation with the lands I bought of Tucker for ten years after my wife's death if he should not be provided with other land to live on before the expiration of the ten years.
      Unto my son James Sale three Negroes Jack, Kate and Amey.
      Unto my son Thomas Sale two Negroes Jenny and George.
      Unto my daughter Hannah Sorrill one Negro woman Doll and £5 current money at my wife's death.
      Unto my daughter Elizabeth Farmer one Negro boy Ralph together with £5 current money at my wife's death.
      To my granddaughter Mary Fisher £5 current money when she comes of age or marry.
      Any Negroes which I have already given I give to the present possessors of them.
      To my beloved wife during her natural life the plantation whereon I now live with the use of all my Negroes not already delivered to my children and the use of all my personal estate.
      Residue after my wife's death be divided between my sons John Sale and Thomas Sale but Thomas have 10 more than the one halfe thereof.
