      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that we MARY EVANS & WATERS DUNN are held and firmly bound unto THOMAS WARING, BENJAMIN WINSLOW, WILLIAM DAINGERFIELD & SAMUEL HIPKINS, Gent., Justices of the peace for Essex County in the sum of Two hundred pounds current money to which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs firmly by these presents; Sealed with our seals, dated this 17th day of January 1748
      The Condition of this obligation is such that if the above bound MARY EVANS, Administratrix of all the goods chattles & credits of JOHN EVANS deceased, do make a true and perfect Inventory of all the goods chattles and credits of said deceased, and the same so made do exhibit in the County Court of Essex at such time as she shall be thereunto required by the said Court and the same goods chattles and credits do well and truly administer according to Law, And further do make a just and true account of her actings and doings therein when thereto required by the said Court and shall deliver and pay unto such person or persons respectively as the said Justices by their order or Judgment shall direct pursuant to the Laws in that case made and provided, And if it shall hereafter appear that any Last Will and Testament was made by the said deceased, and the Executor therein named do exhibit the same in the said Court, making request to have it allowed and approved, accordingly, if the said MARY EVANS do render and deliver up her Letters of Administration approbation of such Testament being first had and made in the said Court, Then this obligation to be void and of none effect or else to remain in full force and virtue MARY EAVENS

      THE CONDITION of this Obligation is such that Whereas the above bound JOHN EVANS JUNR, is by the Court of Essex County licensed to keep the FERRY usually called PISCATAWAY FERRY Now if the sd JOHN EVANS JUNR shall constantly keep two Sufficient boats (to wit) a foot boat & a horse boat with two able hands to attend the same and also give passage without delay to the Inhabitants of this County & to such Publick messages and expresses as may be mentioned in & by an Act of Assembly intituled an Act for the better regulation & Settlement of Ferrys & for dispatch of Publick Expresses to be Ferry Free & do perform all & whatsoever the Law enjoyne & truly & faithfully comply with the duty & business of a FERRY KEEPER that then the above obligation to be void otherwise to he in full force

HILL and WEBBs lands by a PATH side being the West corner tree of the sd Hills land runing thence along the sd Webbs head line North West to a red oake thence South West crossing the head of a swamp to a red oake and Hickory on a hill side thence South down ADCOCK MILL SWAMP unto the said Hills line along the line the several courses thereof to the Beginning place which said land was granted and sold by EDWARD ADCOCK and his Wife ELIZAB. ADCOCK Decesd, of the said Parish and County unto JOHN COAPLAND of the sd Parish and County decesd. and possessed by the said Coapland at the time of his decease in fee simple and the said Coaplan by his Last Will and Testament in writeing devised and gave the sd land to REBECCA COAPLAND his Wife and by the last Will and Testament in writeing of the said Rebecca devised and gave the said land unto the abovesaid John Hudson to his heirs as aforesd. may all appr. by the records of the aforesd County . .

Anno: Sixteen hundred & Eighty Two, and bounded Beginning at a small White Oake standing in a Branch and is a Corner between this said land and the Land of JOHN DUNN Thence North West to a marked white oake standing by MITCHELLs Fence thence South West Crossing the MAIN ROAD to a Corner Hickory standing by the side of an old Field in a line of JOHN CHEYNEY deceased, thence South East to a Stone lying in a Valley, thence down the said Valley to the head of a small Branch thence down the said Branch to the beginning Corner White Oake To Have and To Hold the said Two hundred and twenty one acres of land unto said JOHN EVANS JUNR, his heirs and assigns forever.       THIS INDENTURE made the twenty third day of November in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred and forty three Between MARK HAYMER and ELIZABETH his Wife of the one part both of the Parish of SOUTHFARNHAM in the County of Essex of one part and JOHN EVANS JUNR. of the same Parish and County of the other part; Witnesseth that they the said MARK HAYMER and ELIZABETH his Wife for Forty and four pounds good and lawful current money of Virginia to them in hand paid have sold unto the said JOHN EVANS JUNR. and to his heirs and assigns forever all that their Plantation or parcel of Land whereon they the said MARK HAYMER & ELIZABETH his Wife lived at the time of the ensealing and delivery hereof, being the Land and Plantation lately purchased by the said ELIZABETH of WILLIAM ADCOCK and JOSEPH ADCOCKE scituate and being in the Parish and County above-said containing fifty acres be the same more or less being bounded, beginning at a marked Hicory standing in the line that divides the said Land from the Land formerly belonging to Capt. WILLIAM BEALE but now in the occupation of Capt. JOHN PHILLIPS, thence by and with the reputed line that divides this said Land from the Land of the said JOHN PHILLIPS by several marked trees to a white Oak standing on a small poynt by and near the BEVER DAM SWAMP, to the said Swamp; thence up the said Swamp as it meanders the several courses thereof to the line and land of LEOD, HILL now in the tennure and occupation of JOSHUA FRY Gent., then by and with the said HILLS line and the line and Land of JOHN EVANS the Elder the several courses thereof to the line and Land of the aforesaid PHILLIPS formerly BEALEs as abovesaid, thence by and with the said line to the first beginning marked Hickory; And also all reversions Rents and all the Estate rights of them the said MARK HAYMER and ELIZABETH his Wife in the said Land, only excepting one acre thereof to and for the use of JOHN PHILLIPS, Millrt., with all and singular the premisses: To have and to hold the said Land with all houses orchards gardens timber and trees with all the appurtenances belonging unto the said JOHN EVANS JUNR. his heirs and assigns quietly and peaceably have possess & enjoy all and singular the abovesaid Land above mentioned without the molestation or denial of them the said MARK HAYMER and ELIZABETH his Wife or their heirs or assigns or any other persons under them and the said MARK HAYMER and ELIZABETH his Wife their heirs forever hereafter to warrant and defend the abovesaid Fifty acres of Land; In Witness whereof they the abovesaid MARK HAYMER and ELIZABETH his Wife hath set their hands and seals

      TO ALL CHRISTIAN PEOPLE to whom it may concern that I VINCENT HUDSON, Mill Right, of the Parish of SOUTH FARNHAM in the County of Essex in Virginia Know ye that I the said VINCENT HUDSON as well for and in consideration of the affection that I doe bear unto JOHN EVANS of the aforesaid Parish, County & Colony as also for divers other good causes to me at this present moveing, and as also one Pistole weighing Twenty one Shillings and six pence current money to me in hand paid hath granted and given unto JOHN EVANS to him his heirs and assigns forever, a certain parcel! of Land containing by estimation Ten acres lying on the South side of Rappa: River in Essex County whereon my Father, HENRY HUDSON deced, built a CORN GRIST WATER MILL, which said Land was given and confirmed unto my said Father, by JOHN WILLIAMS, late of the said County deced., as may more fully appear by a certain Deed bearing date on or about the thirteenth day of Janury Anno 1713; recorded in the abovesaid County which said Land being bounded beginning at a small red Oake standing in SMITHs line on the North side the Swamp, from thence cross the Swamp to a white Oake sappling upon a poynt, from thence down the aforesaid Swamp to a white Oake saplling upon the Mill Poynt, from thence across the said Swamp again to a small Maple, from thence to a white Oake sappling standing in SMITHS line, from thence along SMITHs line to the beginning place; which said Swamp runing into the said River between BOWLERS FERRY and Capt. PEACHEYs QUARTER Land; peaceably and quiety to possess and enjoy all the aforesaid Land together with the premisses and previledges to the same belonging without any hindrance of me the said VINCENT HUDSON my heirs or assigns or any other persons, the said Land with the appurtenances to warrant and forever defend by these presents; In Wittness whereof I the said VINCENT HUDSON have hereunto set my hand and seale this 17th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fourty four
