      Will of Thomas Machen of Christ Church Parish in Middlesex County, being sick and weak in body,
      dated 28 Aug. 1730.
      Unto my son John Macken my land in Gloucester County whereon he now lives.
      Unto my son John Machen one Negro boy George on the said land where he now lives.
      Unto my son John Machen two cows and calves on the plantation whereon he now lives.
      Unto my son John Machen half of the hoggs on the said plantation.
      All the rest of my estate equally divided betwixt my loving wife Mary Machen, my daughter Ann Fearn, my daughter Judith Machen, my son Thomas Machen and my son Henry Machen. When my Negroes is divided, my daughter Ann Fearn may have her first choice.
      My well beloved friend Mr. Thomas Edwards, my son in law John Fearn and my son John Machen executors.
      My beloved friend Mr. Thomas Edwards have the management of my son Thomas Machen and whats belongs to him untill he comes of age.
      My son in law John Fearn have the management of my son Henry Machen and his part untill he comes of age.
      My son John Machen have the management of my daughter Judith Machen and her part untill she comes of age.

      1713-1734 Middlesex County, Virginia Will Book;
      Pages 373-75. Will of William Gray of the County of Middlesex, being weak and languishing in body, dated 9 Nov. 1730.
      Unto my sister's son Hugh Stewart all my lands in Virginia. Hugh Stewart shall name the first male child
      lawfully begotten of his body Gray Stewart. Such heir succeeding him, his Christian name may be Gray, from heir to heir forever.
      In case of failure of such heirs, unto his brother David Stewart and his heirs as aforesaid.
      In default of such heirs to his brother John Stewart, they fulfilling my will.
      And for want of such heirs unto the next of my kindred they still bearing up the said name in the succeeding heirs.
      Unto my brother John Gray one hundred pounds current money to be paid by the said Hugh Stewart. The said Hugh make speedy and diligent search for the said John Gray. In case of the death of John Gray to be paid to David Stewart.
      Unto my sister Jane the wife of James Stewart, one hundred pounds current money.
      Unto my God daughter Judith the daughter of Thomas Machen, deceased, one cow.
      Unto my God daughter Dorothy the daughter of John Fearn, one cow and calf.
      Unto my nephew Hugh Stewart all my Negroes, and all my household goods, chattells, horses, mares, sheep and hogge and all other worldly estate.

      3 May 1732.
      Unto my beloved brother David Stewart a pair of silver clasps, a pair of silver buckles and one enambled gold ring, for a remembrance of me.
      To my beloved wife her riding mare, she now hath to ride on. The increase of the said mare for my beloved daughter Jean Stewart.
      Unto my beloved daughter Jean Stewart all my lands.
      All my slaves remain and be kept together on my plantation in making crops for the benefit and advantage of my said daughter Jean Stewart.
      I do invest my beloved wife with the power of all things upon the plantation during her widowhood and at her marriage she may have her thirds durine her life.
      All my cattle, sheep, hoggs and horses be improved together with the slaves for the benefit of the plantation.
      If my executors see that she embasils or wastes the estate, then the executors take the same out of
      her hands.
