Indenture 16 Oct 1767 between ROWLAND THOMAS, Sheriff of Orange County and AMBROSE COLEMAN .. Witnesseth that whereas THOMAS JETT, assignee of Drake & Richardson hath ordered an execution on said Coleman .. sum of £18, with interest from 1 Oct 1764 and costs amounting to £6.08.03 .. Likewise an execution of WM. BROCKMAN, assignee of George Roebuck for £13.14.06 returnable to Orange Oct court and £3.3.2 costs for which executions .. Coleman .. not being in cash to pay .. well knowing his lying in prison will not pay the said debts, etc., doth hereby importune the Sheriff .. take mortgage tract of land lately obtained from William Cave .. bounded .. Hardin's line .. Thornton's line .. Provided always if Ambrose Coleman to pay to be void . . . .

THIS INDENTURE made the 16th of November 1778 Betwen JOSEPH JAMES Gent of County of Culpeper and MARY his Wife of one part and AMBROSE COLEMAN of the other part Witnesseth that said Joseph James and Mary his Wife for the sum Sixty four pounds current money have granted unto said Ambrose Coleman his heirs forever land hereafter mentioned One hundred acres in the County of Culpeper and a part laid of by said James being part of said tract of land said James now lives upon called the FOX MOUNTAIN TRACT Begining at three white oaks thence South to two pines in FIELDs line thence South to a box oak in WRIGHTs line from thence along Wrights line to the begining
