      In the name of God Amen. I ROBERT COVINGTON of Bromfield Parish in the County of Culpeper being in a low state of helth tho in my proper sences „ do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament .. that is to say first I recommend my soul to Almighty God .. and my body to be buried in a Christian manner at the discretion of my Executors hereafter mentioned and for what worldly goods God in his mercy hath been pleased to bestow on me I give and bequeath the same as followeth that is to say it is my will that all my just debts and funeral expences be first satisfied and paid.
      Item I give unto my two sons FRANCIS COVINGTON and WILLIAM COVINGTON this Tract of land 1 now live on to be Equally Divided between them two after their mothers Decease.
      Item. My will is that my two sons may settle on the said land when they think fitt not disturbing their mother.
      Item I give unto my two daughters AN COVINGTON and SUSANA COVINGTON a certain tract of land EDWARD PRICE now lives on to be equally divided between them two. Item. If any one should die without heir or husban hir part shall fall to the other sister.
      Item My will is that my children should be well brought up at the discretion of my Executors.
      Item I give unto my wife MARGRET COVINGTON all the rest of my Estate during her life, and after her decies all to be equally divided among my children.
      My Will is that JOHN STROTHER, WILLIAM COVINGTON and ANTHONY STROTHER should be my Executors of this my last Will and Testament .. to which I have hearunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of October 1759.

      At a Court held for the County of Culpeper on Thursday the 18th day of September 1766.
      This last Will & Testament of Robert Covington decd was exhibited to the Court by John Strother one of the Exors. therein named and was proved in the following manner. John Clayton swore that the said Decedent did sign seal & Publish this to be his last Will & Testament & that he saw William Wiseman one of the Witnesses subscribe the same.
      And at a Court held for the said County on Thursday the 16th day of October 1766
      The said Will was further proved by the Oath of Richard Covington another witness thereto & ordered to be recorded and the said Will is to lie for the Executors to qualify at the next Court.
      And at a Court held for the said County on Saturday the 22d day of November 1766. On the motion of John Strother Gent. one of the Executors in the said Will mentioned Certificate is granted him for obtaining a Probat thereof in due form he having sworn to the same and given Bond and Security according to Law, Liberty being reserved for the other Executors in the said Will named to join in the Probit when they shall think fit.

      THIS INDENTURE made the. 16th of June 1773 Between RICHARD COVINGTON of County of FAUQUIER of one part and WILLIAM BALL of County of Culpeper of other part Witnesseth that said Richard Covington for Covenants herein after mentioned hath granted to farm let unto said William Ball Two hundred and Fifty acres of land except mines and Quaries in the Parish of Brumfield County aforesaid To Hold during the natural lives of the said William Ball, REBEKAH his Wife and his Son JAMES BALL for lives of longest liver paying yearly to the said Richard Covington Five hundred and thirty pounds of Tobacco the two first years which first payment on first of January 1774 and the succeeding Vizt 1775 same rent of Five hundred and thirty pounds of Tobacco & for every year after the annual rent of One thousand pounds of Tobacco and Cask to be paid at FREDERICKSBURG or FALMOUTH or any Convenient warehouse as above Richard Covington shall elect said William Ball to maintain all buildings and fences, not dispose of any wood or timber other than used on the plantation . . .
