      IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I EDWARD CLARK of Essex County being very sick and weak at present (but of perfect sence & memory thanks be to God for the same) do ordain constitute and appoint this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, first I recommend my Soul to God and my body to the earth (to be decently buried by my Executrx.) in hopes of a sure and certain resurrection to life eternal through ye merits of Christ passion. My Temporal Estate I dispose of in manner following.
      Item give to my Son EDWARD one shilling.
      Item I give to my Daughter MARGARET one shilling.
      Item I give to my Daughter ELIZABETH one shilling.
      Item I give to my Daughter RUTH one shilling.
      Item I give to my Daughter Mary one shilling.
      Item I give all my land to be Equally divided amongst my four Sons (Vizt.) JOHN, BARTHOLOMEW, WILLIAM and JAMES (excepting fifty acres which I give to JAMES to make up for the meanest of his part) And my Will and Meaning is that my Son JOHN have his part where he is already settled and likewise my Son BARTHOLOMEW where he is settled and my Son JAMES to have his part at the head of my land joining on COVENTON and ARMSTED, and my Son WILLIAM to have his part where I now dwell, with my dwelling house and plantation and all the Appurtenances thereto belonging (after my Wifes decease) all which said land I do Entale on my said Sons and their heirs forever, And if any of my said Sons should die without heir my will & pleasure is that their part be Equally divided amongst the survivors.
      Item all the rest of my Estate either real or personal I give the use of to my loving Wife ANN during her widdowhood and if my Wife should marry my will and pleasure is that she have a childs part and no more.
      Item my Will and pleasure is that all that part of my Estate I have given ye use of to my Wife (after her decease) be equally divided amongst my three Sons Vizt. BARTHOLOMEW. WILLIAM and JAMES and their heirs and if in case any of them should die without heir then my will is that theirs be equally divided amongst ye Survivors.
      Item I do also leave my said Wife whole and sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills or writing heretofore by me made. IN WITNESS whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal the Twelfth day of August one thousand seven hundred and thirty six

      PURSUANT to an Order of the Worshipfull Court of Essex for appraising all and singular ye Estate of EDWD CLARK deceased, wee the appraisers being met and first sworn before THOS. JONES Gent items listed and valued to total Three hundred thirty nine pounds, sixteen shillings (some of the items in the Inventory being) . twenty three head of cattle, one stallion, one cart & wheels, two old cart horses & harnesses; twelve head of shoats and five pigs; twelve old sheep & four lambs; Negroes (seven listed by name); six beds bolsters and rugs; six cain chairs; (other household furniture), (kitchen utensils, dishes, etc.), a parcel of cooper and Carpenters tools; a parcel of old hoes and an ax; one plow hoe and one old crosst Cut saw; parcel of leather, parcel of old Silver, three yds of holland; one old hat; one razor and hone; five thousd. JONES, BENJA.WINSLOW & WILLIAM ROAN Gent Justices of the County of Essex in sum of one thousand pounds Sterl. Witness our hands and seals this XVth day of February MDCCXXXVI
      THE CONDITION of this obligation is such that if ye above bound ANN CLARK Exx. of ye last will & Testamt. of EDWARD CLARK deced do make or cause to be made a true and perfect Inventory of all the goods chattels and Credits of the said deced the same so made do exhibit or cause to be exhibited in the County Court of Essex at such time as she shall be thereunto required by the sd Court & further do make a just and true account of her actin gs & doings therein when thereto required by the said Court and do well and truly pay & deliver all the legacies contained & specifyed in the said Testament as far as the sd goods chattels & credits will thereunto extend according to the value thereof & the Law shall charge her then this obligation to be void and of none effect . .

      THIS INDENTURE made the nineteenth day of May 1724 Between JAMES ADKINS and ELIZABETH his Wife late ELIZABETH FISHER of the County of Essex of one part and EDWARD CLARKE of the same County Witnesseth that the said James Atkins and Elizabeth his Wife for sum of one thousand pounds of Tobacco to them paid by these presents doth grant unto said Edward Clarke in his actual possession by ye Statute for Transferring uses into possession and to his heirs forever all their right to a tract of land which was given by Majr. JAMES BOUGHAN deced to JAMES BOUGHAN JUNR & the said Elizabeth Atkins party to these presents by deed bearing date the Second day of April in year 1706 which said land being in the Parish of St. Anne & County of Essex abovesd upon the branches of Occupatee Creek .
