      THIS INDENTURE made this 18th day of October one thousand seven hundred & Ninety Between JAMES MARYE & MILDRED his Wife of County of SPOTSYLVANIA of one part and JAMES LINDSEY of Culpeper County of other part; Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of Thirty pounds current money of Virginia to them the said JAMES MARYE and MILDRED his Wife in hand paid, have bargained & sold unto JAMES LINDSAY his heirs a certain tract of land containing Forty four acres be the same more or less lying in County of Culpeper on the Waters of STANTON RIVER and bounded; Begining at two white Oaks &a Chesnut tree standing on the North side of the North Branch of STANTON RIVER, thence North 25 degrees East eighty poles to three Chesnut tree on the side of aver)! steep Mountain, thence North 8 degrees West 60 poles to a Chesnut Oak& mahogany by a large Rock, thence West 52 poles to a Hickory, Chesnut & red Oak, thence South 136 poles to a Dogwood Chesnut & Gum on STANTON RIVER, thence North 81 degrees East 28 poles to the begining; Together with all houses orchards and all other appurtenances belonging free from the trouble of any person; To have & to hold the land & premises from all Incumbrances of Mortgages, Dowers & Reversions and to the only use of said JAMES LINDSAY his heirs; As Witness our hands & seals the day & year above written
