Know Yee that I the sd Wm, Denby for Divers good causes and Valluable consideracons me thereunto moving and espetially for and in consideracon of Two thousand five hundred pounds of Tobaccoe and one Barrell of Corne to me in hand already paid doe grant bargaine and sell unto RICHD SPURLING two hundred and fifty acres of land formerly seated by the sd Denby be it more or less being halfe of a tract of land formerly taken up by the sd Wm. Denby and THOMAS PATT1SON Refference being had to the Pattent more fully & at large appeareth To Have and To Hold the sd Two hundred and fifty acres of Land he it more or less unto the sd Richd. County on the So: side Bounding as followeth Begininmg at a marked corner Red oake bounding uppon a former Devidt: of land wch I the sd Spurling bought of WM. DENBY and am now possessed wth & runing West and by No: 100 poles thence from a marked red oake No: & by E: 160 poles thence East by So: to the place where it first Begann To Have and To Hold the said 50 acres of land to the sd Nich: Cox his heires IN WITTNESS whereof wee have hereunto sett our hands &seales this 5th day of Aprill 1668.

      KNOW ALL MEN by these that I HENRY WOODNUTT of the County of Rappa. for and in consideracon of the sume of fifteene hundred pounds of Tobacco and cask to me in hand paid by FRANCIS STAFFORD of the said County have bargained and sold unto the said FRANCIS STAFFORD his heirs one hundred and fifty acres of land lying on the South side of the River fifty six acres of the said land formerly taken up by RICHARD SPURLING and joining upon the land of the said SPURLING where he now dwelleth the other part of the said one hundred and fifty acres lyeth and boundeth upon the said fifty six acres before specified this land being part of Foure hundred and sixty acres purchased by THOMAS HARWAR as by conveyance bearing date the nine and Twentyeth of November may appear the said land being part of nine hundred twenty and two acres Pattented by THOMAS HARWAR and NICHOLAS COX bearing date the seventh of December 1665 To Have and to Hold the said one hundred and fifty acres unto the said FRANCIS STAFFORD his heirs and assigns forver And I the sd HENRY WOODNUTT doe warrant the same from all persons as Wittness my hand and seal this 18th day of December 1671 signum

      KNOW ALL MEN that I FRANCIS STAFFORD of the County of Rappa. for the sum of Two thousand pounds of Tobacco and cask to me paid by DAVID SALSBURY and RICHARD JOHNSON have sould unto the said DAVID SALSBURY and RICHARD JOHNSTON their heirs and assignes forever one hundred and fifty acres of land lying on the South side of the River bounding upon the land of RICHARD SPURLING where he now liveth wch said land being purchased by me the said STAFFORD of HENRY WOODNUTT as by conveyance upon Record bearing date the 18th day of December 1671 may appeare it being part of a Pattent of Nine hundred twenty acres of land taken up by THOMAS HARWAR and NICHOLAS COX to have and to hold the said one hundred and fifty acres of land unto the said DAVIS SALSBURY and RICHARD JOHNSON their heirs and assigns that they may lawfully hold and enjoy the aforesaid land with warranty from me my heirs and assigns and from all other persons pretending any claime to the said land.       June Court 74. TO ALL CHRISTIAN PEOPLE to whom these presents shall come I WILLIAM DENBY of the County of Rappa. Planter send greeting Know yee that I the said WILLIAM DENBY for divers good causes and valuable considerations me thereunto moving and especially for and in consideration of two thousand five hundred pounds of tobacco & one Barrell of Corne to me in hand already paid the receipt whereof I doe hereby acknowledge and of every part thereof acknowledge myself fully satisfied and paid have granted and sold unto RICHARD SPURLING two hundred and fifty acres of land bee it more or less (being halfe of a Tract of land formerly Laken up by WILLIAM DENBY and THOMAS PATTISON) reference being had to the Pattent more fully and at large appeareth, To Have and to hold the sd Two hundred and fifty acres of land bee it more or less unto the sd RICHARD SPURLING and to his heirs forever withall fishings, fowlings, hawkings, huntings, profitts & Emoluments whatsoever unto the said bargained land and premises belonging and it is further agreed upon by and betweene the sd parties that the said WILLIAM DENBY shall warrant the said bargained premises unto the said RICHARD SPURLING & his heirs & further save him harmless from trouble or molestation of any persons whatsoever that shall lay any claime thereto or to any part thereof by virtue of these presents.       TO ALL XPIAN PEOPLE to whom these presents shall come I THOMAS HARWAR of the County of Rappa send Greeting &c Know yee that I the said THOMAS HARWAR for and in consideracon of Two thousand pounds of Sound merchantable Leafe tobacco in Casque to me in hand paid by RICHARD SPURLING of the same County the receipt whereof I doe hereby acknowledge to have granted and by these presents doe sell unto the said RICHARD SPURLING his heirs Executrs. and assigns One hundred and fifty acres of land lying on the Southside the River bounding on the land of Mr THOMAS BOWLER which he bought of RICHARD SPURLING fifty acres of the said land being formerly taken up by the said RICHARD SPURLING and by him sould the other hundred being part of a greater tract of land taken up by me the said HARWARR and NICHOLAS COX bounding upon the said Fifty acres of land which said One hundred and fifty acres of land hath been by HENRY WOODNUT sold to FRANCIS STAFFORD and since purchased by me the said HARWARE To have and to hold the said One hundred and fifty acres of land together with all rights and privilidges whatsoever thereunto belonging to him the said RICHARD SPURLING his heirs or assigns forevermore and further I the said THOMAS HARWAR my heirs promise with the said RICHARD SPURLING his heirs or assigns by these presents that the said RICHARD SPURLING or his assigns shall and may lawfully occupie and possess the aforesaid land with Warranty from me the said HARWAR my heirs or assigns and all other persons by my means or procurement.       TO ALL TO WHOM these presents shall come I FRANCIS LORD HOWARD, Baron of Effingham his Maties Lieut. Governer Genll of Virginia send Greeting &c. Whereas &c. Now know yee &c. do accordingly give and grant unto EDWARD ADCOCKE One hundred and Fifty acres of land scituate lying and being in the County of Rappa: according to the most antient and lawfull bounds thereof formerly granted to RICHARD SPURLING of the sd County deced, and was lastly found to Escheat to his most sacred Matie as by an Inquisition recorded in the Secretarys Office under the hands and seals of Colnll ISAAC ALLERTON, Escheater of the sd County, and a Jury sworne before him for that purpose dated the 15th day of October 1685 may appeare and is since granted to the sd Mr. EDWARD ADCOCK who hath made his composition according to Law To have and to hold &c. To be held &c. yeilding and paying &c. Given under my hand and ye Seale of the Colony this first day of February 1686/7
