      THIS INDENTURE made this tenth day of March 1777 Between WILLIAM CRAWFORD & JEMIMA his Wife of County of Culpeper of one part and WILLIAM HENRY of abovesaid County Witnesseth that for sum of Seventy pounds current money of Virginia the said William Crawford and Jemima his Wife hath granted unto William Henry his heirs one hundred acres of land in County & Parish aforesaid & part of the Tract of land the said William Crawford now lives on & bounded Begining on the river at two gums thence North to two red oaks Corner to JAMES EASTHAM thence North to one white hikory on the river bank thence down the several courses of the river to the Begining

      The Commonwealth of Virginia to JOSEPH WOOD & WILLIAM WALKER Gentlemen Whereas William Crawford & Jemima his Wife of County of Culpeper have sold unto William Henry land in County of Culpeper and Whereas said Jemima cannot conveniently travel to our said Court to make acknowledgement of said conveyance we do give unto you power to personally go to the said Jemima & receive her acknowledgement of the same apart from her husband and when you have received her acknowledgement openly certify us thereof in our said Court Witness JOHN JAMESON Clerk of our said Court at the Courthouse the 2d of April 1777.
      Pursuant to an order of Culpeper County Court we the Subscribers went to Jemima Crawford private and apart from her husband she declared that she did freely acknowledge the same without the threats of her husband Certified under our hands 4th April 1777.
      At a Court held for Culpeper County 16th June 1777
      This Indenture is admitted to record the said Jemima was first privily examined as the Law directs.

      THIS INDENTURE made this 23 March 1776 Between ISAAC TINSLEY and ELISABETH his Wife of County of Culpeper of one part and WILLIAM HENRY of County aforesaid Witnesseth that said Isaac Tinsley and Elisabeth his Wife for sum Sixty pounds current money of Virginia have granted unto said William Henry his heirs forever one hundred acres of land in County aforesaid on the Rapand River and bounded begining at a white hikory on the North side the aforesaid River runing thence North to a white oak in WILLIAM CRAWFORDs line thence West to a white oak in JAMES COL-LINS line thence South to the aforesaid River thence down the several courses of the river to the begining

      George the Third to William Kirtley and WILLIAM WALKER Gent Whereas Isaac Kirtley and Elisabeth his Wife have conveyed unto William Henry land in County of Culpeper and whereas said Elisabeth cannot travel to our Court of Culpeper to make acknowledgement of said conveyance we do command you to go to said Elisabeth and examine her privily and when you have received her acknowledgement that you certify us thereof in our said Court. Witness JOHN JAMESON Clerk of our said Court this 19th February 1776 Culpeper Sct Pursuant to the within command We went to Elisabeth Tinsley and examined her privately and apart from her husband and she acknowleged the Deed and desired it be recorded. Witness this 23th March 1776

      THIS INDENTURE made this 20 July 1778 Between WILLIAM HENRY and TOMASON his Wife of County of Culpeper of one part and JOHN LEATHERER of County aforesaid Witnesseth that said William Henry and Tomason his Wife for sum one hundred and twenty pounds current money of Virginia hath given unto John Leatherer his heirs one hundred and ninety seven acres of land in the fork of the Conway and Rappidann Rivers and bounded begining at a pine runing North to a white oak Corner to STEPHEN SANDERS line on a Branch thence East up the Branch to a pine in FRANCIS CONWAYs line thence with said Conways line to the Begining.

      THIS INDENTURE made this fifteenth day of April one thousand seven hundred and ninety two Between WILLIAM HENRY of ORANGE County of one part and JAMES COLLINS of Culpeper County of other part; Witnesseth that WILLIAM HENRY in consideration of the sum of Three hundred pounds in hand paid by these presents doth bargain and sell unto JAMES COLLINS his heirs a certain tract of land lying in County of Culpeper containing by estimation Two hundred acres be the same more or less and bounded; Beginning at two Gums on the Branch of the RAPADAN RIVER and running thence North twenty four degrees East one hundred and ten poles to two red Oaks and one Pine, thence North nine degrees West ninety six poles to three Pines and a red Oak, thence South forty seven degrees West one hundred and eight poles to two white Oaks and-a red Oak, thence North five degrees West forty two poles to a white Oak and Chesnut, thence South seventy five degrees West (blank) poles to the RAPADAN RIVER, thence down the several courses of said River to the beginning, To have and to hold the tract of land with its appurtenances unto JAMES COLLINS his heirs; And WILLIAM HENREY for himself his :heirs doth covenant that he shall the said lands with its appurtenances unto JAMES COLLINS his heirs against the lawful claim of any person warrant and forever defend by these presents; In Witness whereof the party have hereunto set their hand and seal the day and year written WILLIAM HENREY

      This Indenture of Bargain and Sale from WILLIAM HENREY to JAMES COLLINS was acknowledged by the said WILLIAM and ordered to be recorded

      Claim of Henderson, McCall & Company [Page 115-22]:
      William Henry, Fluvanna. £30.11. 31, Richmond Store.
      He died in Fluvanna during the war. He left a very good estate and the widow but no child. His brother Patrick Henry administered on his estate and died last year in Charlotte County. The estate was distributed between the widow and next of kin during the war and before the peace the widow removed to Bedford County where she married --- Holt.
