Note: I have found records of a David and Joseph in Charles Co. and believe them to be son's of Hugh I. Listed in Tax records 1733, Port Tobacco, Charles County, along with John for "Want Water" is David. Also listed for "Wales","White Oak Plaine","Richards Delight" is Joseph Thomas. Joseph's last listing in Port Tobacco tax records is in 1758. Joseph is listed as next of kin in the will of John Cofer. "Fortune" goes from Hugh I, to John Sr., to John Cofer and Elizabeth Thomas Cofer. At the time of John Cofer's will, I find Hugh II, David, John Sr., James, and Margery are gone. Joseph is an elder at this time and since I do not know of any cousin's to Hugh I's children in Charles County, I have come to believe Joseph is Elizabeth's brother. What do you think? Have you come across these records? I have searched hundreds of family trees and records and I always come to the same conclusion. P.S. There is also a Morris Thomas in Port Tobacco but I have yet to find a connection to the family of Hugh I.
