Charles County Court Records, March 1737/8 Court, Liber T#2, Page 426
Pursuant to the order of last Aug CC Court, Commission issued to examine witnesses touching the bounds of a tract of land called Barbers Hazzard, in possession of Richard Barber. Commissioners appointed: Robert Yates, John Howard, Joseph Douglass, and John Courts, Gent (not being any way related to the Petr, contiguous Proprietor, nor interested in the sd land). Barbers Hazzard is in CC. The purpose of the Commission was to prove and perpetuate the memory of the bounds of sd tract of land.
And now here, at Mar Court, John Courts & Jno Howard return to this Court the Commission afd, with the following certificate and depositions thereto annexed:
CC, Mar 1, 1737. We met on the premises in the presence of all parties concerned, and examined all such witnesses as were to us then nominated. Signed - John Courts, John Howard.

CC. Mar 1, 1737/8. The deposition of Mr. John Shaw Sr, age about 75, who says that about 50 years ago, this deponent heard several persons say that this place where the deponent now stands, was formerly called the Hole, it being now within the corn field of Mr. John Lancaster and near the Main Road that goes to the Ship Landing where Mr. Henry Neale now lives, but that he knows nothing of the bounds of any lands that the sd Hole relates to, and this deponent further says that when Mr. John Sanders received the quitrents for his Lordship, he told this deponent that the creek now called Charles Town Cr was formerly known by the name of Poseys Cr.

CC. Mar 1, 1737/8. The deposition of Mr. Benjamin Neale, age about 35, who says, concerning the bounds of Slingsbeys Land or Barbers Hazzard, declares that he knows nothing of it or any other lands that relate thereto.

CC. Mar 1, 1737/8. The deposition of Edward Gillins, age about 37, who says that about 1 year ago, this deponent heard Mr. Benjamin Neale say his father told him that if he should die, there was no one living that could prove either the bounds of Slingsbeys Land, Gills, or Russells, but Mr. William Thompson. And further, this deponent says that Mr. Benjamin Neale told him that he supposed that the bounds of Slingsbeys stood in the sycamore thicket.

CC. Mar 1, 1737/8. The deposition of Mr. Henry Neale, age about 46, who says that he saw a locust post standing near the head of Charles Town Cr near the path that went to Mr. Charles Digg's, and it was deemed as the boundary between
      Anthony Neale's and Percival Fearson's.

CC. Mar 1, 1737/8. The deposition of Mr. Richard Smith, age about 49, says that about 19 years ago, Percival Fearson told him that Mr. Diggs had surveyed out of his land, and that it was never known that Mr. Digg's land ever came over theEaster[n]most Branch, that goes up in the woods from the house where Richard Barber now dwells, and this deponent's mother told him, as they were going to Madam Digges', when they got some distance over the head of the creek where a great gate stood near a mulberry tree, they were then in Madam Diggs' land.
