Will of Eleanor Gardiner Massey, SMC, 2/27/1837-2/22/1842.
Son: Henry Herbert Blackistone, all of my hall furniture except the clock and round table. Son: John Blackistone, the clock and round table.
Son: Henry Herbert Blackistone, a negro girl named Harriett; a carriage and horses; and a silver cream pot and sugar pots for the use of my daughter, Jane Maria Hammett during her coverture and should she become a femme sole, to hers in fee. If she dies, leaving her husband, same is devised to her children.
Granddaughter: Julia Ann Alexander, a negro woman named Caroline; two negro girls named Amanda and Sophia; a workstand; six silver dessert spoons; and one bedstead, bed, and furniture.
I appoint my son, John Blackistone to take care of the same until my granddaughter arrives at the age of 18 or is married. If she dies before that time, the property bequeathed to her is devised to the children of my daughter, Jane Hammett.
Children: Henry Herbert Blackistone, John Blackistone, and Jane Maria Hammett, the residue of my estate equally divided. The portion received by my daughter, Jane Maria Hammett is to be kept in the possession of my son, Henry Herbert Blackistone during the coverture of my daughter and should she become a femme sole, it is to be hers in fee.

CODICIL: 11/8/1841. Son, Henry H. Blackistone, a negro woman named Fidelia and her two children and a negro girl named Susan for the use of my daughter, Jane Maria Hammett during her coverture and should she become a femme sole, to be hers in fee. If she dies leaving her husband, same is to go to her children.
