      Charles County, Maryland Land Records 1814-1817; Liber IB-11 {Abstract by Mike Marshall}; Page 340. At the request of Samuel Chapman the following Marriage Contract was recorded May 27, 1816
      This indenture tripartite made May 13, 1816; between William Walker of the 1st part, Catherine Chapman, widow of the 2nd part and Samuel Chapman, trustee of the 3rd part. Witnesseth whereas a marriage is intended by God's permission shortly to be had and solemnized between William Walker and Catherine Chapman and whereas Catherine Chapman stands seized and possessed of and entitled to a real and personal property consisting of lands Negroes and other articles and whereas William Walker is seized and possessed of and is entitled to an estate both real personal and mixed and it has been agreed by the parties that William Walker shall not after the marriage have received possession or enjoy the estate either real or personal of Catharine Chapman but the same shall remain to the sole and entire use of her the said Catherine Chapman. And whereas it has also been the said parties agree that in case Catherine Chapman should after the said intended marriage happen to survive and outlive William Walker that Catherine Chapman shall not have claim challenge or demand on any part or share of the real personal or mixed estate whereof William Walker may be seized or possessed of or in any manner entitled to at any time during the coverture or under pretense of her dower in the lands or share of any other part of his estate or her right of been entitled as administratrix of the personal estate of William Walker. Now this indenture also witness that pursuant to an and performance of the before recited agreement and in consideration of $5 current money paid by Samuel Chapman, trustee hereby appointed and with the consent and agreement of William Walker testified by his being made a party has sold and delivered by these presents all the property and estate of Catherine Chapman both real and personal that she now holds or is any manner entitled to or may be in any manner entitled to during the coverture aforesaid in trust for the use of the said Catherine Chapman.
