Notation: He inherited the Calvert County estate, "Weston", given to him in 1702 by his father. He built a handsome mansion there surrounded by a park. There is an extensive Clagett family graveyard at Weston. He owned "Huntington" at Rock Creek; "Clagett's Purchase" (750 acres) in Montgomery County, near what is now Bethesda; 300 acres near Beaver Dam, Prince George's Co.; and "Strife." 1707, County Commisioner; Justice of Prince George's Co.; 1712, Justice of the Peace Burgess, Co.; 1730, Justice of Orphans Court.

I give and Bequeath unto my Two Sons John Clagett & Charles Clagett The Remaining Par t of a Tract of Land Called Clagetts Purchase afte my Son Thomas Clagett hath Two Hundred Acr es Land out for him According to my Deed of Gifts Lately Executed To Be equally Divided Betwe en the aforesaid John Clagett & Charles Clagett Their Heirs or Assignes for ever Being abou t five hundred & Seventy Acres of Land.

I Give and Bequeath unto my Loving Wife her Heirs & Assignes for Ever all that Tract o r Percell of Land Called Briffe Containing about Three Hundred Acres of Land which I Purchased of Hugh Riley, The Said Land to be Sold By my Said Wife & the Purchase Money To be added t o the Creditt of my personall Estate.
Will: Item. I give and Bequeath unto my Loving Wife Mary Clagett One Third part of all my Persona l Estate of what kind so ever after my Just Debts are fully Satisfied and paid, and the Legac y hereafter Bequeathed.

Elizabeth Graham, born say 1696, appeared in Prince George's County, Maryland Court on 26 June 1716 with her child who was adjudged to be a "Mallato." She was ordered to serve Thomas Wells, Sr., until November court. Later that year on 27 November the court sold her and her child to Thomas Clagett for 3,000 pounds of tobacco. She was called the "Servant woman of Thomas Wells" (no last name) on 25 November 1718 when the court bound her seventeen-month-old daughter Margaret to Edward Marlow. On 24 March 1718/9 she confessed to having another illegitimate child [Court Record 1715-20, 87, 143; 1715-20, 721, 814].
