In the Name of God Amen the second day of March in
the Eleventh yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord King William the third
by the Grace of God over England &c.a and in the yeare of our Lord one thousand
six hundred ninety nine I William Rousby Citizen and Grocer of London being
of good and perfect mind and memory Considering the Uncertainty of this Life
do make this my Last will and Testament in manner following first and principally
I Commend my Soul to Almighty God my maker in sure hope of salvation
by the merritts of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and my body I Committ to
the Earth whereof it was made in surance of a Joyfull Resurrection to be decently
buried as my Executrix & herein after named shall think fitt and as to my worldly
Estate whereas I stand seized to me and my heires of Certaine Lands Tenements
Farms & Hereditam.ts scituate Lying and being within the province of Maryland
in parts beyond the seas Commonly Called and Known by the names of Susquehana
point or point patience and penny hill thereto belonging or adjoyning
Sledmer in Talbot County and Rousbey in the same County and Beverly in Somersett
County Containing in the whole by Estimacon two thousand one hundred
acres of Land be the same more or Less one moiety or half part of all w.ch said
Lands Tenements Farmes and Hereditaments whatsoever with their and every
of their appurtenances and of all other my Lands Tenements Farmes and
Hereditaments with their and every of their appurtenanances Else where within
the said province of Maryland the Remainder and Remainders reversion &
reversions thereof and of every part thereof togeather with all my Estate right title
Interest trust property Claime and demand of me to my said moity thereof both in
Law and Equity and all deeds Evidences and writeings Touching or Concerning
the same I do devise give and bequeath unto my dear and Loveing wife Anne
Rousbey to have and to hold to her and to her heires and assignes for Ever Item I
give and bequeath ^all my personally Estate wtoever & wheresoever^ My Debts &
funerall Expences discharged to my said deare and Loving wife and of this my
will I make her my full and sole Executrix In Wittness whereof I the said
William Rousbey have hereunto set my hand and seale the day and yeare above
written W Rousby signed sealed published & declared by the said W.m Rousby the
Testator as & for his Last will & testament in the presence of Constance Hopton

To all People to whome these presents shall Come I Anne Rousbey of
London Widd.o Relict and Executrix of the Last will and testament of W.m
Rousbey the Elder late Citizen and Grocer of London deceased send Greeting
Whereas the said W.m Rousbey was in his Lifetime seized in fee of and in
all and every the Lands Tenements plantations and Hereditaments scituate
in the province of Maryland w.ch did belong to Christopher Rousbey late
of Patuxent River in Maryland af.d Esq deceased at the time of his
Death and perticularly of and in a pcell of Land Called Susquehannas
point or point patience within the said province of Maryland af.d Esq.r
Containing two hundred acres or thereabouts and of and in a percell of
Land Called penny hill near Puttuxent River in Maryland afd Cont.a
one hundred acres or thereabouts & of and in a parcell of Land Called
Sledmer in Talbot County in Maryland af.d Containing Eight hundred
acres or thereabouts & of & in another pcell of Land Called Rousbey in Talbot
County af.d Containing five hundred acres or thereabouts & of and in a
pcell of Land Called Beverly in Somersett County in Maryland af.d
Containing five hundred acres or thereabouts And Whereas the said
W.m Rousbey did Convey to me and my heires and assignes one Mojty or
half part of all and every the said Lands Tenements plantations and
hereditaments and of all other his Lands tenements Plantations and
hereditaments in Maryland af.d with the appurtenances Now
Know Yee that I the said Anne Rousby for divers good Causes & Considerations
me hereunto Moveing have made ordained Constituted &
appointed and by these presents do make ordaine Constitute and appoint
Charles Carroll of Maryland ^of^ Esq my True and Lawfull attorney for me
and in my name and to my Use to Enter Into and take possession & seizin
of and to Claime and demand all Every or any the said Lands tenaments
plantations and hereditaments or any part thereof and to Lett Sett or demise the
same or any part thereof to such person and persons and for such rent and term
or terms of yeares as he shall think fitt and shall be most for my advintage and to
Receive distraine and sue for all rent and arrearages of Rent and other proffitts due
or to be due for or out of the premises or any of them and upon Receipt thereof
or any part thereof to make seale and deliver for me and in my name
acquittance or acquittances or other Lawfull and sufficient discharges in part
or in full as occasion shall require And also for me and in my name and to
my use to part and devide the said lands Tenements plantations hereditaments
and premises or any of them w.th such person or psons as hath Right to the
other Moity thereof and to ask Demand sue for and Receive of Richard Smith
of Maryland af.d and all and every other person & persons whome it may
Concerne all every or any the writeings escripts pattents and minuments
Relateing to or to the Title of the said Lands tenements plantations hereditam.ts
and pmises or any of them & to give Receipts for the same and to make use of all
Lawfull ways and meanes whatsoever by Law or Otherwise for the recovering
entring getting poss.n and seizin of divideing or parting the said Lands tenem.ts
plantations and hereditaments or any of them or for the recovery or Receipt
of the said writeings escripts pattents and minuments and of the said ^rent &^ proffitts
or any of them and for me and in my name to Commence prosecute Carry on &
Conclude any suit or suites for all or any the purposes af.d either alone or Joyntly
w.th y.e pson or psons Intituled to the other Mojety of the premises And I do
hereby fully authorize and impower my said attorney for me an din my name
and to my use to sell and dispose of all my interest right title share property
Claime & demand of in to or out of the said lands tenements plantations
hereditaments and premises or any of them or any part thereof to such pson &
psons and for such price and in such manner and by such pcells as he
shall think fitt and shall be most for my advantage and for me and in my
name to signe and seale and in due forme of Law to be executed and do any
deed or deeds writeing or writeings act ^or^ of acts thing or things whatsoever
for or about the sale or disposition thereof or of any part thereof and to make
execute and give any receipt or receipts or other discharges for the purchase
money in part or in full as the Case shall require And I do hereby
also authorize & impower my said attorney for me and in my name and to
my use to Ask demand sue for Levy recover & receive of and from the heires
Ex.rs or adm.rs of Robert Carvile late of Maryland af.d Gentleman deceased &
of all and every other person and persons whome it may Concerne all &
every such sume and sums of Money goods and things as were or are due
or belonging from the said Robert Carvile or his heires Ex.rs or adm.rs or any
of them to the said W.m Rousbey or to me the said Anne Rousbey as
his Executrix and to settle and adjust accounts touching the same &
upon his receipt of what shall thereupon or otherwise appeare due to
me receipts or other discharges for me and in my name to make execute
and give as the Case shall require and to Commence and
prosecute any suite or suites for the recovery thereof And I do hereby
give unto my said Attorney my full power and authority in the
premises and do hereby impower him generally to do all & every such
further and other Lawfull and reasonable act and acts thing and things
in or about the premises as shall be necessary or Convenient to be done
as fully and effectually as I Could do if I were personally present & for
y.e better effecting & accomplishing of the premises to substitute &
appoint one or more attorney or attorneys under him and whatsoever
my said attorney or his substitute or substitutes shall Lawfully do or
Cause to be done in or about the premises by Virtue of these presents
I shall & will and hereby do ratifie Confirme and allow to all intents &
purposes In Wittness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seale y.e
first day of June Anno Dom 1702 and in the first yeare of the Reigne
of our Sovereigne Lady Anne by the Grace of God Queen of England &c

On the back of the aforegoing letter of attorney was thus endorsed Viz.t
sealed and delivered (being first stampt w.th a double six penny stamp) in
the presence of John Busby Guil Scorey Not.rus Pub.cus
And likewise to the aforegoing letter of attorney was annext the following
Instrument Viz.t
To all to whome these presents shall Come We S.r William Gore
Knight Lord Mayor and the Aldermen of the Citty of London send
greeting Know Yee that on the day of the date hereof in her Maj.tys
Court holden before us in the Chamber of the Guild hall of the said Citty
personally Came and appeared John Busby of London Gent aged
thirty yeares or thereabouts being a person well Knowne and
worthy of Good Creditt and did by sollemn Oath which he took
upon the holy Evangelists of Almighty God before us then & there
sollemnly declare testifie and depose to be true that he this deponant
was present and did see Anne Rousbey by the name of Anne Rousby
of London widd.o relict & Ex.rx of the Last will & testament of W.m
Rousbey the Elder late Citizen & Grocer of London deceased seale & as
her act & deed deliver to the Use of Charles Carroll of Maryland Esq
the Letter of attorney now produced and shewn unto him this
Deponant fair and Uncanselled bearing date the day before the
date of these presents for the purposes therein menconed And this Deponant
as a wittness to the sealing and delivery thereof did set and endorse his name
thereon togeather with W.m Scorey Notary as thereby doth and may appear
In faith and testimony whereof we the said Lord Mayor and Alderman
have Caused the seale of the office of Mayoraltys of the said Citty of London to
be hereunto put and affixed And the said Letter of attorney to be hereunto
annexed Dated in London the second day of June Anno Dom 1702 and in the

is annexed bearing Date the Eleventh day
of Aprill last past and that he doth likwise
very well Know and is and hath for a long
time past been familiarly acquainted with
Robert Rousby late of the Citty of york
Merchant at present In London the att.ry
Mentioned in the same ler att.ry and that
they the said W.m Rousby and Robt Rousby
were allways reputed and Taken to be True
and Legitimate Brothers and the Deponent
Doth further Make Oath that he doth really
