Indenture made April 27, 1778; Thomas Prather, Gentleman of Washington County, Maryland in consideration of 30 pounds common money paid by John Frederick Augustus Priggs, Gentleman of PGCo has sold two tracts in PGCo called "Sterling Park" containing 50 acres and part of "Stoke" containing 52 ½ acres being the land hereto for sold and conveyed by Peregrine Mackaness unto Thomas Prather and Daniel Carroll by deed bearing date June 9, 1764 and recorded in Liber TT folio 231, 232 & 233. Signed Thomas Prather in the presence of and acknowledged before Joshua Sprigg, John Cellar (JP's of Frederick County, Maryland) and at the same time Janet Prather wife of Thomas Prather relinquished her right of dower
