      THIS INDENTURE made the fourteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & forty one between WILLIAM CLIFTON of the County of Prince William gent of one part & JOHN SNODEN of the aforesaid County Planter of other part Witnesseth that said WILLIAM CLIFTON for the Rents and Covenants hereafter expressed hath granted to farm Let unto the said JOHN SNODEN a certain parcel of land by estimtion one hundred and fifty acres being in the aforesd County being the land where the said JOHN SNODEN now lives on & bounded begining at a white Oak near the mouth of TIMBER BRANCH & runing thence S by W to two white Oaks & red Oaks corner trees standing on CRAB TREE thence down the said Branch to the back line of CAPT. BRENTs land now known by the name of LONGMANS LAND and thence along the said Line N by E to a branch of LITTLE HUNTING CREEK thence up the said Branch to the mouth of TIMBER BRANCH to the Begining white Oak near the mouth of TIMBER BRANCH To Have and To Hold the said land to him the said JOHN SNODEN during the natural life of him the said JOHN SNODEN, JAMES BEACH & GEORGE BEACH Sons to THOMAS BEACH during which time it may be Lawfull for him the said JOHN SNODEN to possess the said land paying unto the said WILLIAM CLIFTON his heirs or assignes the annual rent of seven hundred & thirty pounds of Tobacco Quallified according to Law to be paid yearly by the twenty fifth day of December & the said JOHN SNODEN doth agree not to sell any timber off the premises neither shall he sell his Lease without the Leave of the said WILLIAM CLIFTON & at the decease of the said three lives shall yeild up into the possession of the said WILLIAM CLIFTON Provided if it shall happen that said rent be not paid in Twenty days next after same become due that then it may be lawfull for the said WILLIAM CLIFTON the premises to enter and the goods & chattels there found to take and bear away until! the rent be fully paid further said WILLIAM CLIFTON doth agree that it shall be lawfull for him the said JOHN SNODEN to make use of any timber they can find on any of the Land unleased belonging to the said WILLIAM CLIFTON Provided it is not to be found on his own part the land hereafter only excepted all the land lying between said WILLIAM CLIFTON & a North Course runing from four Spanish Oaks corner trees of JOHN SHERIDONs land to a red Oak & corner trees by the side of a Branch that said WILLIAM WILLIAMS is bounded on finally said JOHN SNODEN doth oblidge himself in three years space after this date to plant out one hundred apple trees cious on the said plantation & the same to keep under good fence, In Witness whereof the parties have set their hands & Seals

      At a Court held for Prince William County the 24th day of August 1741
      WILLIAM CLIFTON acknowledged this Lease to JOHN SNODEN to be his act & deed & it was thereupon admitted to record
