      THIS INDENTURE made the nine and twentyeth day of October in the eighth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lady Ann by the grace of God of Great Brittain France and Ireland, Queen defender of the faith &c., And in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and nine; Between THOMAS RICHARDSON of the Pish, of SITTENBURN in County of Virginia, Planter, THOMAS BROCKE of the same Pish. & County, Planter & CECILL his Wife of the one part and NICHOLAS SMITH of the Pish. & County aforesaid, Gentleman. of other part; Wittnesse that THOMAS RICHARDSON, THOMAS BROCKS & CECILL his Wife for the sum of Six thousand pounds of good sound merchantable leafe tobacco and caske to them in hand paid by NICHO: SMITH, by these presents do bargain sell and confirm unto NICHOLAS SMITH his heirs all that p:cell of land lying in the Pish. of SITTENBURNE in County of Richmond containing by estimation Thirty acres of land lying between said NICHOLAS SMITHs land and the CHURCH in Richmond County; Beginning at a Stake in said SMITHs line, thence South fifty two degrees and a half East thirty three poles and a halfe to a red oake near ROGER RICHARDSON, thence South sixty eight degrees & a halfe East twenty three pole to a dead Hiccory near said ROGER RICHARDSONs cleare ground, thence East by North seventeen poles to a persymmon tree, thence East South East to a small red oak saplin neare a large white Oak ninety six poles, thence West seventy sevenpoles to a Hickory tree at the uper end of THOMAS BROCKE his Land on the North side of the Road, thence South one degree West sixteen poles to the Road, thence down the Road South eighty degrees East thirty six poles to a red Oak saplin neare the CHURCH, thence South twenty three degrees East twenty poles to the River side, thence up the River one hundred sixty degrees West tenn poles to a red Oak bush in the sd BROCKs plantacon, thence North twenty three degrees West twenty seven poles to the Road, thence up and along the Road North eighty degrees West fifty three poles, thence North seventy degrees West seventy three poles to a corner tree of said NICHOLAS SMITH, thence North twenty nine degrees East to the first mentioned Stake in said SMITHs line, with all its rights members and appurtenances whatsoever belonging; being part of a Patent granted to JOHN BARROW deceased bearing date the thirteenth day of October 1657 as in said Patent may appear; To have and to hold the above mentioned Thirty acres of land with the appurtenances unto NICHOLAS SMITH his heirs and within six months will personally acknowledge these presents in Court to the end the same may be recorded; In Witnesse whereof the partyes aforesd have hereunto interchangeably sett their hands & seals the day & year first above written
