Walter Hanson Sr., May 1, 1794; December 1, 1794
I, Walter Hanson of CC being far advanced in years and infirm of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory
Item: whereas my trusty and sincere friend Mr. Henry Barnes did by virtue of a power of attorney from me resurvey and lay of{f} into different parcels my part of the mannor of Friendship and did by virtue of the same power sell and dispose of the same one part to George Edelin and another to John Ford and took their bonds for the payment of the purchase money part of which bond are still unpaid and whereas before I had granted my power of attorney to Mr. Barnes I sold to Benjamin Cawood part of the said Mannor and took his bond part of which bond remains also still unpaid now it is my will and desire and hereby empower Mr. Henry Barnes to take into his management the whole matter of these land affairs and grant sufficient deeds and conveyances to the said George Edelin, John Ford and Benjamin Cawood to all and every of them so soon as they severally pay in the purchase money or sooner if the judges it reasonable upon their giving such further security as he the said Mr. Barnes thinks necessary.
Item: I give to my son Hoskins Hanson all my family and other pictures and all my wearing apparel and desire that neither of these articles should be appraised in my estate.
Item: I give devise and bequeath to my son Samuel Hanson the plantation whereon he now lives being part of His Excellency's Gift and part of Mr. Daniel Jenifer's land I had in exchange for part of His Excellency's Gift it being all the land I have lying on the north side of the main road that leads from Portobacco towards Nanjemoy. I also give him a negroe girl called Teresia daughter of Nell.
Item: I give to my son William Hanson one hundred acres of land I bought of William Middleton being part of Tompson Town and one hundred acres of land I bought of John Chandler adjoining or supposed to be adjoin to the afore mentioned land bought of William Middleton.
Item: After my wife Elizabeth Hanson marriage contact with me is fully complied with and after all my debts are paid and after my friend Mr. Henry Barnes is fully satisfied for all the trouble and expense he has been at on my account then I give and bequeath all the remaining part of my personal estate to my son William Hanson.

Codicil: Whereas by the marriage contract mentioned in the said will that the increase of the negroes brought by my wife was to return to her with the principal to prevent any disputes after my decease, I give and bequeath to my said wife Elizabeth Hanson all the increase the wrenches negroe Kate and negroe Sall now has and may hereafter have anything in the said will to the contrary notwithstanding and I further declare that if my son William should depart this life before me then and in that case my executor before mentioned make sole of the lands devised to my son Samuel Hanson.

I, Elizabeth Hanson Senr. of CC being far advanced in years and infirm of body but of sound and disposing mind and memory
To daughter Elizabeth Hanson, negroes; Jesse, Henney and her two children, Nancy (commonly called Patt) and Milly, two sows and calves, one young mare, six head of sheep and half the stock of hogs, the best bed and furniture, half a dozen best chairs, one bookcase, one chest drawers, one green chest, one large looking glass, and all my china, glass dels? and stoneware, two large pewter dishes, two ditto small, and half a dozen pewter plates, half the corn and other provisions and all my wearing apparel also two of the best tables.
To son Henry Massey Hanson any surplus from the sale of the remaining part of my estate after payment of my debts.

Articles of Agreement, entered into this Oct 30, 1782 between Walter Hanson of CC, to Elizabeth Hanson of CC, There is shortly a marriage intended between sd Walter Hanson and Elizabeth Hanson. It is agreed that if Elizabeth outlives Walter, she shall have all the estate she possessed before sd marriage, and whatever her father thinks fit to bestow upon her afterwards, and shall have liberty to dispose of the same, and shall have one eighth of Walter's clear personal .estate, and may dispose of same as she shall think proper. Elizabeth agrees to forever quit any claim to any part of Walter's real estate, by dower or otherwise, by virtue of sd marriage, She also quit claims to any of Walter's personal estate except the eighth, as afd. Charles County Land Records 1790-1792; Liber K#4; Page 493. Aug 30, 1792 from Walter Hanson of CC, to George Hargraves of CC, for 43 £15 shillings, lot #5, described below. Sd Walter Hanson heretofore purchased of the State of Maryland, part of a tract of land called Friendship, being confiscated as British property, and did, on Jun 13, 1789, empower. Henry Barnes of CC, to survey, lay off, and dispose of part of ad land. Sd Henry Barnes, by virtue of ad power, had Friendship resurveyed by Theophilus Hanson, Surveyor of CC, and sd Barnes sold to sd Hargraves lot #5 in the plat of sd land, and gave his bond to convoy the same to ad Hargraves. The land is bounded by a line of Bellmount, containing about 35 [acres]. Signed - Walter Hanson. Wit - Richu Barnes*, Henry H Chapman*. Elizabeth Hanson, the wife of sd Walter Hanson, relinquished her right of dower. Recorded Aug 30, 1792.
