In the name of God Amen I AMBROSE CAMP of St. Marks Parish in the County of Culpeper being of sound mind & memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of this life, do constitute this my last Will & Testament. Imprimis I recommend my soul to God who gave it and what worldly goods It has pleased God to bestow on me after my just debts are paid I give and bequeath in manner following Vizt.
Item I give to my son THOMAS CAMP the upper part of my land whereon I now live to be laid off
as follows ( to wit) Beginning at a Pine near my fence agst MATTHIAS RINEHARTs house and runing from thence a strait course to my back line so as to include one hundred acres, to him &, his heirs forever, but as the Peach and Cherry orchards will be in that part of the land my desire is that he his heirs shall not otherwise molest his mother from making use of any Quantity of ( faded) she shall be in need of
Item I give to my son Thomas Camp two negroes
Item I lend to my loving wife ANN CAMP all the remainder of my negroes during her natural life and after her decease I give them to be equally divided between my six youngest children, WILLIAM CAMP, JOHN CAMP, HENRY CAMP, JAMES CAMP, MARSHALL CAMP & BETSEY CAMP to them & their heirs.
item I desire my Executors hereafter named will sell Two hundred acres of the land whereon I live to be laid off as followeth Beginning in my back line & runing thence to MORRISS' line to include my lower plantation,
And also I desire my said Executors will sell the land purchased of GEORGE WETHERALL and that they will make deeds of conveyance to the Purchaser or Purchasers and their heirs forever & the money arising by the sales of the said lands to be applied towards Discharging my Just Debts.
Item I lend to my loving wife Ann Camp all the remainder of my land during her natural life and after her decease to be sold & the Money arising from such sale to be equally divided among my six youngest children ( to wit) William Camp, John Camp. Henry Camp, James Camp, Marshall Camp and Betsy Camp to them and their heirs forever.
Item I do appoint my loving Friends SAMUEL CLAYTON, RICHARD POLLARD and WILLIAM WILLIAMS Executors of this my last Will & Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 11th day of March 1769.

This last Will and Testament of Ambrose Camp deceased was exhibited to the Court by .. the Executors therein named and was proved in the following manner. Edward Watkins, Sarah Watkins & Frances Strother the subscribing witnesses to the said Will made oath that the said Ambrose Camp did sign, seal, Publish & declare the same to be his last Will and Testament in their presence and that they do believe he was in his perfect Sences at the time of so doing And on the motion of the said Executors Certificate is granted them for obtaining a Probat thereof in due form they having sworn to the same & given Bond & Security according to Law & it is ordered that the heir at law be summoned to contest the Probat thereof (if he thinks fit) at the next Court.

3 Dec. 1767. Agreement between Ambrose Camp of Culpeper County and Benjamin Rowe of same. Ambrose Camp and Benjamin Rowe have agreed to build a water grist mill on Mountain Run and it is supposed by the parties that Ambrose Camp will be at more expence and do more work towards erecting the mill than will be done by Benjamin Rowe. It is agreed that Ambrose Camp shall keep the mill in his possession after erected and receive the profits thereof untill he shall be repaid for all such expenses and work in erection thereof more than is expended by Benjamin Rowe which shall be adjudged by disinterested persons to be chosen by themselves for that purpose. Ambrose Camp doth agree to allow the marked [market?] price for the time being for all grain of wheat kind soever which shall be by him received from the mill while in his possession untill the sum adjudged shall be fully reimbursed, after which payment and satisfaction the property of the mill shall be vested in Ambrose Camp and Benjamin Rowe jointly and the profits arising therefrom to be equally divided, they being at equal expences and trouble in keeping the mill for repairs or otherwise. For the preformance of all agreements Ambrose Camp and Benjamin Rowe bind themselves in the penalty of £500
current money.

This Indenture made 21st June 1770 between SAMUEL CLAYTON, RICHARD POLLARD and WILLIAM WILLIAMS, Executors of AMBROSE CAMP deced of County of Culpeper and DICKIE LATHAM of same .. Whereas the said Ambrose Camp deced late of County aforesaid did by his Last Will and Testament dated 11th March 1769 among other things direct that his Executors sell 200 acres being part of tract whereon he lived by a line tuning from his back line to MORRISS so as to include his lower Plantation and the money arising to be applied towards discharging his Just debts This Indenture Witnesseth that. Samuel Clayton, Richard Pollard and William Williams Executors of the said Ambrose Camp for sum of 150 pounds doth grant 200 acres being part of the said Tract whereon the said Camp lived including his lower Plantation and is bounded Beginning at a white oak in the north side of Mountain Run at the mouth of Hungrey Run corner to JAMES SLAUGHTER thence with his line to a box and spanish oak saplins in Morris's line to the beginning .. THIS INDENTURE made this 16th November 1778 Between SAMUEL CLAYTON JUNR Surviving Executor of AMBROSE CAMP Deceased of one part and ROBERT LATHAM Infant and heir at Law of JOSEPH LATHAM Decd of other part. Whereis said Ambrose Camp by his Last Will and Testament recorded in County Court of Culpeper did desire his Executors to sell Two hundred acres of land which he purchased of Mr. GEORGE WETHERALL and the money arising to be applyed towards discharging his just debts in Pursuance of said Will the Executor did sell the said land to Joseph Latham who soon after departed this Life (before any acknowledgment could be made) haveing no issue of his Body and this said Robert Latham Son of JOHN LATHAM deceased the Elder Brother of said Joseph now becomes Heir at Law NOW THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH that for the sum Fifty pounds Current money to them paid he the said Samuel Clayton Junr. Surviving Executor of the said Ambrose Camp Deceased by these presents do grant unto the said Robert Latham his heirs Two hundred acres of land in County aforesaid and bounded Begining at three white oaks Corner to ROWE thence South to two red oak Sap-lins on a branch thence South to two white oak Saplins in the Fork of Priors Branch from thence to the begining.

ARTICLES of AGREEMENT entered into this 15th day of February in year of our Lord Christ One thousand seven hundred and Eighty two Between RICHARD HAYNIE and ANN his Wife (formly ANN CAMP, Widow & Relick of AMBROSE CAMP deceased) of County of Culpeper and State of Virginia of one part & THOMAS CAMP WILLIAM CAMP, JOHN CAMP & HENRY CAMP, Surviving Children of the deceased of other part. Whereas AMBROSE CAMP by his last Will & Testament date the (blank) day of (blank) 17( ) and duly recorded in the County Court of Culpeper reference being thereunto had will more fully appear did after devising to his Son, THOMAS CAMP, One hundred acres of land and two Negroes named Phill & Sall, and directed a certain tract of his land containing Two hundred acres be sold for purpose therein mentioned Bequeath the residue of his land & slaves to his Wife, ANN CAMP, during her natural life and at the Decease directed the residuary land to be sold and the money arising therefrom togather with all the Slaves to be equally divided between her Six youngest children, to wit WILLIAM CAMP, JOHN CAMP, HENRY CAMP, JAMES CAMP, MARSHALL CAMP & BETSEY CAMP, the three youngest of which Children being now dead before any division made whereby the Reversion of the said Estate is vested in THOMAS CAMP, WILLIAM CAMP, JOHN CAMP & WILLIAM CAMP, Surviving Children of the said AMBROSE CAMP deceased, And Whereas the said ANN CAMP is since intermarried with RICHARD HAYNIE, a party hereto, NOW THESE ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT Witnesseth that RICHARD HAYNIE and ANN his Wife for and in consideration of the Benefit of having three Negroes to wit Old Robin, Lett & Frank, Son of Bett, that is to say, Robin & Lett during the natural life of said ANN HAYNIE and the said Frank during the natural life of said RICHARD HAYNIE and ANN his Wife or the life of the longest liver of them and for the further consideration of THOMAS CAMP, WILLIAM CAMP, JOHN CAMP & HENRY CAMP agreeing to clear the said RICHARD HAYNIE & ANN his Wife from the payment of any Debt or Debts due from the Estate of AMBROSE CAMP deceased to any person whatever do hereby give up to be divided all the other Estate of the said deceased between THOMAS CAMP, WILLIAM CAMP, JOHN CAMP & HENRY CAMP according to an Agreement between the said parties and RICHARD HAYNIE and ANN his Wife do hereby oblige themselves to give up all the said Estate (except as before excepted) unto the said Surviving Children free and clear from the Claim of them the said RICHARD HAYNIE & ANN his Wife for the full performance of these Articles the parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands & Seals the day month & year first above written

KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I THOMAS CAMP of Culpeper County am held and firmly bound unto WILLIAM CAMP, JOHN CAMP & HENRY CAMP of said County in the full & Just sum of Two thousand pounds current money of Virginia to which payment well & truly to be made to said WILLIAM CAMP, JOHN CAMP & HENRY CAMP their heirs I bind myself my heirs firmly by these presents Witness my hand &Seal this 15th day of February 1782
The Condition of the above Obligation is such Whereas the above bound THOMAS CAMP Son and Heir at Law of AMBROSE CAMP deceased and Heir at Law of JAMES CAMP, MARSHALL CAMP & BETSEY CAMP deceased, Children of said AMBROSE CAMP deceased, hath agreed to take an equal part or one forth part of said AMBROSE CAMP deceased according to a Division this day made. Now if THOMAS CAMP and his heirs do well & truly abide by the said Division and do not molest the others in their part, then this obligation to be void, Else to remain in full force Power & Virtue

THIS INDENTURE made the 17th day of June in year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Eighty two Between SAMUEL CLAYTON, Surviving Executor of AMBROSE CAMP deced, WILLIAM CAMP and FRANCES his Wife, JOHN CAMP and SARAH his Wife, HENRY CAMP & ELIZABETH his Wife of County of Culpeper of one part and THOMAS CAMP of County aforesaid of other part Whereas AMBROSE CAMP by his last Will and Testament bearing date the (blank) day of March 1769 did devise to his Son, THOMAS CAMP, one hundred acres of land to be laid off at the upper end of the Tract whereon he then lived and by said Will directed Two hundred acres of land at the Lower end be sold and the money ariseing therefrom to be applied to the pigment of his Debts the Balance of said Tract containing One hundred and fifteen acres he let to his Wife ANN CAMP during her natural life and after her decease the said land to be sold & the money ariseing from such sale to be equally divided between his six youngest Children, (to wit) WILLIAM CAMP, JOHN CAMP, HENRY CAMP, JAMES CAMP, MARSHELL CAMP & BETSEY CAMP & their heirs, three youngest of which is since dead and the said ANN CAMP having Intermarried with RICHARD HAYNIE in Consequence of which marriage the said RICHARD HAYNIE came into possession of the said Land and the said RICHARD HAYNIE and ANN his Wife by their Articles of Agreement bearing date (blank) for the consideration therein expressed have given up their right to the said land which by the Will of said AMBROSE CAMP deced and by Agreement of said THOMAS CAMP, WILLIAM CAMP, JOHN CAMP & HENRY CAMP, the Surviving Children of said AMBROSE CAMP, & the Consent of the said Exrs. the land was to be sold and the money divided equally between them in pursuance of which agreement the said land was set up to the highest bidder & the said THOMAS CAMP became the Purchaser for the sum of Six hundred pounds One hundred and Fifty pounds of which purchase being one fourth or his equal part. THIS INDENTURE THEREFORE WITNESSETH that SAMUEL CLAYTON, Exr. &c., WILLIAM CAMP & FRANCES his Wife, JOHN CAMP & SARAH his Wife, HENRY CAMP & ELIZABETH his Wife for and in consideration of the sum of Four hundred and fifty pounds Current money to said WILLIAM CAMP, JOHN CAMP & HENRY CAMP in hand paid by these presents do bargain and sell unto THOMAS CAMP his heirs and assigns forever One tract or parceli of land containing One hundred and fifteen acres of land be the same more or less being the residue of the tract of land whereon the said AMBROSE CAMP formerly lives in Culpeper County and bounded begining at a Pine Corner to sd THOMAS CAMP, thence South thirty five degrees East ninety four pole, thence South seventy five degrees East thirty eight pole to a small box Oak Corner to DICKE LATHAM thence with line (blank) thence North fifty six degrees West One hundred & eighty pole to some Bushes near a Pine, thence North fifty degrees East One hundred & fifty four poles to the begining being the land which was lent to ANN CAMP by the Will of AMBROSE CAMP deced, the Bake. of the Tract whereon she lived at the time of her marriage, together 'with all houses profits and commodities to the same belonging To have and to hold the said Tract of land with the appurtenances unto THOMAS CAMP his heirs and asssigns forever and SAMUEL CLAYTON Exr. &c. WILLIAM CAMP and FRANCES his Wife, JOHN CAMP & SARAH his Wife, HENRY CAMP &ELIZABETH his Wife for themselves and their heirs the said land with the appurtenances unto THOMAS CAMP his heirs & assigns shall warrent and for ever defend by these presents In Witness wherefof the said SAMUEL CLAYTON Exr. &c., WILLIAM CAMP & FRANCES his Wife, JOHN CAMP and SARAH his Wife, HENRY CAMP and ELIZABETH his Wife have hereunto set their hands & Seals the day and year first within written
