      I, John Lenoir of CC, glazier, am firmly bound to Robert Hanson of CC, gent, in the sum of 20,000 lbs of tobacco in cask. I bind myself this Mar 26, 1722.,There is a marriage intended shortly to be celebrated between sd John Lenoir and Mary Newman [sic] of CC, widow. Sd Mary is now possessed of divers goods & chattels mentioned in'a schedule hereunto annexed, all of which sd John is desirous should remain in the absolute property and power of sd Mary after the marriage. Mary has given to Robert Hanson all the goods and chattels in the schedule, for the use and benefit of sd Mary during her natural life, and afterwards, to the use and behoof of sd John Lenoir if he survives her, but if he does not survive her, then half the goods and chattels to go to the use and behoof of the heirs of sd John and the other half to be disposed of at the discretion of sd Mary by gift, deed, will, or otherwise. All debts as shall appear to :be due from sd Mary before this marriage shall be satisfied and paid out of the afd goods & chattels.
