Know that I, Mary Hemsley of Annapolis in Anne Arundel County, widow, for the love I have for my sister, Mrs. Judith Bruce of CC decd, I give unto her 4 children, viz
To Charles Bruce, eldest son of the afd Judith - 1 Negro boy called Toney, aged about 5 years.
To Townley Bruce, youngest son - a Negro boy named Nacey, aged about 16 months, both being the sons ofa Negro woman called Jeany.
To Francis [sic] Bruce, eldest daughter of the afd Judith - a Negro girl called Bett, daughter of a Negro woman called Sarah, aged about 2 years.
To Eliza Bruce, youngest daughter - a Negro girl called Sarah, daughter of a Negro woman called Dubba, aged about 2 years.
If any of the aforementioned children dies, their part to sd Francis Bruce, & in case of her death, to the afd Charles Bruce.
In case of both of their deaths, to the surviving heirs of the afd Mrs. Judith Bruce.

Mar 12, 1759 from John Winter of CC, Gentleman, to John Wathen of CC, planter, for the yearly rent of 1 ear of corn, the lease to sd John Wathen, during his natural life, of a tract of land called St. Thomas, lying in CC on Piles Presh, bounded by John Montgomery: Spring, Bennet Wathen, the Ditch nigh Piles Bridge, Pipers Hole. To have and to hold, without liberty to lease, let, or rent sd land. Sd John Wathen may not waste timber, but he may use timber to support that part of the plantation that lies below the road running from Newport Hill to Piles Ridge, being that parcel of land sold by sd Wathen to sd Winter as by deed executed this day.
