p. 76 In Name of God Amen the 10th October 1749 I RAWLEIGH TRAVERS being sick but of sound mind do make this my last will & Testament Imprimis I give to Mr. PETER DANIEL four Negroes & to the children of his present Wife SARAH,
Item I give my Negroe fellow Joe to my Sister ELIZABETH COOKE her life after to her son TRAVERSE COOKE
I give to my Sister SARAH DANIEL a negro girl called Sarah and her Increase to her three children Vizt. HANNAH, TRAVERS & ELIZABETH DANIEL.
Item I bequeath to HANNAH COOK negro to TRAVERS COOKE all my negroes not yet mentioned. All my personal estate in corn, tobacco money & cattle to be divided in three parts one of which I will leave to my Sister Elizabeth Cooke the other two parts to my Nephew & heir Traverse Cooke all my debts being duly paid. Item I give to my neice Hannah Cook one of the best beds & furniture in my house together with four cows & calves.
I ordain my trusty loving friends Elizabeth Cooke & Travers Cooke my whole & sole Executors. Presence David Waugh,

1748-1767 Stafford County, Virginia Will Book O; [Antient Press]; Page 361-363 In Name of God Amen I TRAVERS COOKE of County of Stafford Gent. being sick but of sound mild make my last will & Testament my soul to God my body I leave to he decently inter'd. Imprimis I give my Estate to be equally divided among my dear & loving Wife MARY & my two Sons JOHN & MOTT and that her share after her death should be equally divided between them, and whereas there appears to me to be a large ballanee to me from my Uncle THOMAS YOUGHAL in the Kingdom of Ireland for the rents & profits of my Estate there, if ever the same should be recover'd by my heirs or Executors & the 50 pounds due upon my Wife's acknowledgment of her right of dower of in & to lands lately sold by ROBERT BURGES my Attorney to Hacket Esqr. my will & desire is that the same be equally divided among my said Wife & sons to them and their heirs and if my Wife should marry again before my Sons comes to age of 21 years, my will is that they shall be taken from her & be under the Directions of their Guardian hereafter named & appointed. My desire allso is that my Sons should have as good an education as my Estate would aford or support them in. I hereby nominate & appoint my good Friends GEORGE MASON of Fairfax Esqr & JOHN MONCURE Clerk Guardians to my said Sons & my Loving Wife Mary and BAILEY WASHINGTON Gent
I appoint Executors of this my last will & Testament, hereby revoking & dissanuling all former wills .. day of December 1 757.

JOHN MONCURE Clerk aged 45 being first sworn saith that he wrote the above will in the presence & at the request of the sd Travers and that after it was finished the sd Travers read it over & said it was exactly right, & signed it, & that then when the sd Deponent offer'd to sign it as a witness he the sd Cook told him he would get some other persons to evidence it, as the sd depont' was one of the guardians appointed to his children in the sd will, but if he should miss of them, he the sd Depont. might prove it at any time. That about a twelve month after signing, the said Travers was again taken sick at the House of PETER DANIEL Gent & sent to this Depont to gee to his House & take this will out of a private drawer in his desk, & bring it to him that he might sign it before Evidences, but the sd depont was in a hurry to go to Church, - being Sunday morning & could not goe, for which the sd Travers excused him and told him it was still his will, & that he had no occasion to alter it & that if he should die then, this Depont. would be sufficient to prove it as there was no other than personal Estate left by it & that the sd Travers was at both times in his perfect sences & further this Depont saith not. J. Moncure
PETER DANIEL Gent. aged about 54 being first sworn saith, that in the month of December 1758, the ad Travers Cooke was taken sick at his house & during his sickness he desired this Depont. to send the key of his desk to the Revd. Mr. MONCURE & write to him to bring his will out of a private drawer of his desk in his own house, that he might have it acknowledged it before Evidences that the sd Moncure came co this Depont house that afternoon & expressed himself to the sd Cooke that he was in a hurry to go to church & could not call for the will, & said it was signed but no witness, & that the sd Cooke declared the will was exactly according to his desire & that he did not want to alter it that the sd Cook was in his perfect sences and further this Depont. saith not.

Page 81-83 In Name of God Amen I JOHN COOKE of Parish of Overwharton, County of Stafford in Colony of Virginia, Cent. being sick but of sound memory do make this my last Will and Testament. Imprimis I give my immortal Soul
to Almighty God .. my body 1 commit to the earth ,. Estate after my Just Debts and funeral charges my will is (Vitt.)
Item I give to my Dear and Loving Wife ELIZABETH COOKE during her natural Life all that plantation whereon I now Dwell on potomack river side being about 462 acres and an half & the other parcel of land adjoining thereto being about 40 acres more or less together with the use, Labour and Ocupation of the following Negroes Vizt: Cock, peg and Chariot & her increase to my wife during her natural life & immediately after her decease my Land aforsd I bequeath to my Dear and Loving Son TRAVERSE COOKE & heirs & for default of such heirs then to my three Daughters ANN, HANNAH & MILLIAN in Copartnership & co heirs of their bodies & for Default of such heirs of one or either of them then to the Survivour or Survivours heirs & for Default of all such heirs then to my Right heir at Law and as to the aforsd negros I Immediately give Chariot & her increase after my Wife's Decease to my Son Traverse Cook and his heirs & Cock I give to my three Daughters or survivors either to be sold or otherwise disposed of for their benefit and co have the value Equally divided betwixt them.
Item I give the Lease of Land on Cedar run where my quarter now is being 400 acres and all my interest in said land and lease to my Son Traverse Cook & heirs.
Item I give all that tract of Land on the Bever dam containing 1664 acres to my three Dear and Loving Daughters Ann, Hannah and Million to be equally divided between them and their heirs & for Default of such heirs of either or all of them that part of said Land I give to my Son Traverse Cook and heirs .. & for Default of such heirs then to the Surviving Daughter or Daughters and heirs & Default of such heirs to my right heir at Law.
Item I give one Negro Slave named Dublin to my Son Traverse Cook and heirs.
Item I give one negro woman Slave named Sarah to my dear and Loving Daughter Ann Cooke & heirs.
Item I give one negro woman Slave named Will to my Dear and Loving Daughter Hannah Cooke and heirs.
Item I give one Negro man Slave named Tomboy to my dear and Loving Daughter Million Ex heirs.
Item I give all the money due to me in the kingdom of Ireland for the use of my dear Wife and children and to be disposed of in manner following that is to say that it be laid out for Negroes by my ExeEx hereinafter named and then to be Equally divided betwixt my Wife and children Vizt; Traverse Ann Hannah and Millian or Survivour.
Item I give that parcel of Land lying on the North side of the Bever dam containing 1500 and odd acres of Land to SAMUEL TIMMONS of Stafford County and his heirs he paying 261 pounds of Tobacco due to my ExEx & no otherwise to have the said Land the said Tobacco being Due for Composition and other fees for Lands taken up and which account have Divised to him Tract.
Item I give all the rest of my per sonal Estate in this County or else where to my Dear and Loving Wife ELIZABETH and my four children to be equally divided betwixt them, My will is that my wife have the yearly profits of their Estates for my childrens Education she Bestowing such and so good education on them as their Estate will bear & she possibly can afford.
Finally I hereby constitute and appoint my Dear and Loving Wife my Sole and Whole Exex to this my Last Will and Testament and reques• my good friends the Revd. ALEXANDER SCOTT and Mr: RAWLEIGH TRAVERSE to advise and assist her in the performance of her said office. In Witness -- 26th day of December 1732.
