      This Indenture made 19th August 1771 between BENJAMIN GAINES and ELIZABETH his Wife of County of Culpeper, Parish of Brumfield and JOHN BARNHISLE JUNR. of same .. in consideration of sum Thirty five pounds current money of Virginia hath sold unto John Barnhisle 165 acres in Brumfield Parish in the Gourd vine fork of Rappahannock River and one of the branches of Blackwater Run and the same is bounded Beginning at two white oaks in Coleman's old line to three small maples on the bank of the North fork of Blackwater Run near the MAIN ROAD thence to three Black oaks on a ridge in Coleman's line to three small chesnuts on the west side the red oak Mountain thence to first beginning place ..
