    • Daniel McCarty Fitzhugh - was born in "Bedford", Stafford County, Va on 23 June 1733, son of John Fitzhugh and Anne Barbara McCarty. Daniel Fitzhugh married three times and left issue a child by each wife. Daniel married sometime before 1770 first Catherine Hore, who is mentioned as a granddaughter of John Triplett of King George County in a deed there in 1766 - she was the mother of his only son, William Fitzhugh ?, who was born and died . She died by 1771. Daniel married secondly in Stafford County in April 1771 to Alice ‘Elcy’ Riden, marriage License issued in King George County, Virginia in April 1771, and thirdly to Susannah Potter in St Paul’s Parish, King George County, Virginia on 24 October 1772, who was born ? and died [bef 1777]

      By his last will and Testament of record in Westmoreland County, Daniel Fitzhugh requested that he be buried "in my brother William's burial ground." He left his “son William negroes which I had by his mother Catherine; daughter Jane negroes which I had with her mother Elcy; daughter Sukey negroes I had with her mother Susanna, also sum due from estate of Philip Grymes which was due my wife Susanna; brother William's children by his wife Hannah; niece Lucy Fitzhugh 1 negro; nieces Ann and Sally daughters of brother William; nephew McCarty Fitzhugh; friend William Fitzhugh of Chatham. Daniel Fitzhugh's will was dated September 17, 1777 and recorded March 28, 1786; it indicates his three wives predeceased him. Daniel died about 28 March 1786

      for my Nephew, WILLIAM FITZHUGH JUNR., Son of my Brother, JOHN FITZHUGH,
      do by these presents give and make over to WILLIAM FITZHUGH JUNR., a Negro girle
      slave named Sw.k now in possession of said WILLIAM FITZHUGH JUNR. To have and to
      hold the Negro slave unto WILLIAM FITZHUGH JUNR. his heirs & I do hereby warrant
      and defend the said slave and her future increase unto WILLIAM FITZHUGH JUNR. his
      heirs from the claim & demand of every person; In Witness whereof I have hereunto
      set my hand and affixed my seal in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred
      and eighty four

      THIS INDENTURE made the twentieth day of February in year of our Lord one
      thousand seven hundred and eighty seven Between JOHN FITZHUGH of BELLAIR in
      County of STAFFORD and GEORGE FITZHUGH, his Son, of King George County of one part;
      Witnesseth that JOHN and GEORGE FITZHUGH in consideration of sum of Eight hundred
      pounds to them in hand paid, doth by these presents bargain and sell unto DANIEL
      McCARTY FITZHUGH his heirs all that parcel of land lying in King George County commonly
      called and known by the name of FORNEAUX or the HOPYARD, and containing by
      estimation Four hundred and seventy three acres be the same more or less: Together
      with all houses profits and hereditatments to the same belonging, To have and to hold
      the parcel of land with appurtenances unto DANIEL McCARTY FITZHUGH his heirs freed
      and discharged from all incumbrances, the taxes hereafter growing due only excepted;
