I give to JOHN BOWEN two Negroe girls, but if said John Bowen should die before he arrives at age of 21 years, I give the said Negroe girl Joan to my son JOHN BIRKET PRATT & the Negroe Alice to my son THOMAS PRATT & heirs.
Item I give to my beloved wife MARGARET PRATT during her natural life, all the Lands to which she was intitled before our Intermarriage, together with all my household furniture & one equal part with my children, of all my Negroes & Personal Estate and I do hereby give unto my said Wife, full power to dispose of her said share in my Negroes & Personal Estate among my children in such proportion & in such manner as she pleases.
Item I give unto my son John Birket Pratt the Neck part of land whereon my brother BIRKET PRATT lived, and a piece of Land known by the name of the Sandy Bottom to him and heirs ..
Item I give unto my Son THOMAS PRATT and heirs, the following pieces of land to, wit, the Tract of Land wherein my Sister HUNGERFORD lives in the County of King George, the part known by the name of the Forest Quarter & the part called Chapmans, but it is my desire, and I do hereby authorize my Executors to sell & dispose of the said land called Chapman, and to make effectual conveyances in the law for the same, if they can dispose of it for such a price, as they shall think equal to it's value, but if not, in such case I do hereby confirm the devise of the same to my son Thomas ., heirs.
Item it is my will, that all my Negroes except those already disposed of, be equally divided among all my children, but my intention to makeing the Division of my Negroes is, that my Executors hereafter named keep the whole together in their hands, to be worked upon m several Plantations for the Joint support of my wife & children & the overplus of the profits arising from their crops, to be applied to the payment of my Debts. and that my said Executors make division of my said Negroes as my children shall respectively arrive to the age of 21 years or are married. Still keeping in their hands the proportions of all those that shall be under age & unmarried for their joint Support.
Item I give unto my two Sons, John Birkett & Thomas Pratt, all my Stocks of every Sort, equally be divided between them, they paying equally to each of my Daughters as they arrive to age, or are married, the sum of 30 pounds.
Item it is my desire that my Executors after defraying the Necessary charges of my Family, sell all my crops of tobocca appoint my beloved Wife, as long as she shall remain Single, together with ROBERT BROOKING, VIVION BROOKING and THOMAS BUNBURV Executors of this .. and I do appoint Vivion Brooking Guardian of my two Sons .. 8th March 1766 Thomas Pratt
