      In case my dear wife, Elizabeth Gardiner survives and out lives methen I bequeath the same plantation and tract of land to my said dear wife--------hers forever, but if she departs this life before me thenthe same land and plantation to be equally divided abetween my two sons, Luke and John Gardiner as hertofore expressed. He goes on to say, but it is difficult to read, that his wife is to have use and advantate of his Grist Mill and land thereto during her widowhood andduring the minority of my son Luke Gardiner and likewise to have and remove if she remarries during my son Luke Gardiners in case her husband will give such security to my wife herein after ameds as they shall approve to keep mill in good repair for Luke.

CLEMENT HILL & Mr. LUKE GARDINER as Executrs. of the last Will & Testamt. of Mr. RICHARD GARDINER of the Province of MARYLAND late deced and declares that the sd RICHARD GARDINER in his lifetime became firmly bound unto the sd Plt. in the penal sum of One hundred & fifty pounds of Lawfull mony of England by Obligation under his hand & seale here in Court produced with condicon for the paymt. of seventy pounds Sterling mony unto the Plt. upon such Bills of Exchange as he should draw to the sd Value.       Connecting manorial rights to Barberton, it became later the home of RICHARD GARDINER. He was commissioned to make a town and lay streets and ports in St. Mary's County, Maryland His father, LUKE GARDINER, left a will and mentions estates: and left his separated wife, his executrix, ELIZABETH HATTON with large plantation rights. Religion had separated them, but he remained loyal to her. LUKE inherited title as Lord of the Manor from his father, RICHARD. He willed "St. John's", "Hillilee", "Gardiner's Land", "Grimditch", "Charles Co. Plantation", on Piscataway Creek, adjoining his brother-in-law, ZACHARAY WADE, and if all children should die before mother, ELIZABETH HATTON, she was to inherit it all.

      RICHARD GARDINER son of LUKE died 1687, he left son, LUKE born 1680. In his will RICHARD speaks of Barberton Manor to go to son LUKE and wife and other children. Lands in Va.: Executors are spep-father, CLEMENT HILL (Sr.) and uncle COL. HENRY DARNALL. A purchase of Warburton Manor by JOHN GARDINER who was another son.

      Richard Gardiner son of Luke Gardiner died 1673, but he left his son Luke Gardiner II property called Barberton Manor. In Richard Gardiner's will he mentions his step father Clement Hill Sr. and his Uncle Henry Darnall Sr. . Luke Gardiner the II was born abt 1680 and died 1720 he married 1st to Anne Pile of St. Mary's County, but she died shortly thereafter so he married 2nd to Anne Craycroft born 1689 daughter of Ignatius Craycroft and Sophia Beedle. Anne Craycroft Gardiner married 2nd to Richard Edelen, but she died abt 1765.

(1st) Elizabeth Hill, dau. of Clement Hill; m. (2nd) Elizabeth Weir, dau. of Major John Weir and his wife, Honoria, of Rappahannock County, Virginia; Honoria Weir afterward married George Jones; Maj.
