King George County Wills
BALL, JEDUTHAN (d.i., 1750). COB#2, p.666: 1 June 1750=Administration on the estate of Judathan Ball is granted to John Champe, Gent., his widow Elizabeth Ball having relinquished her right of administration to him. Ibid., p.668 indicated Juduthan Ball died possessed of land in King George, Spotsylvania and Prince William counties. The inventory of Jeduthan Ball's estate was recorded 7 September 1750 in I#2, p.65-67. His young widow, Elizabeth (Burgess) Ball, shortly married Robert Armistead, Gent. who succedded Harry Turner, Gent. as clerk of King George County in 1752 and served in that capacity until 1761 whe he became clerk of Caroline County where he died testate in 1767. Estate accouts in considerable detail were filed in Fiduciary Account Book #3, pages 56-58; 66-69, and there are further orders in court in 1752 of record in COB#3, p.127. Hayden's Virginia Genealogies, Page 100, imparts some information in regard to Jeduthan Ball (9 July 1725-5 March 1749/50), however he errs as to his descent from Colonel William Ball as Jeduthan Ball was the son of Major James Ball (1678-1754) of Bewley," Lancaster County, who was the son of William Ball and grandson of the immigrant Colonel William Ball.
