1748-1767 Stafford County, Virginia Will Book O; [Antient Press]; p.515 In Name of God Amen I ANTHONY STROTHER of Parish of Overwharton County of Stafford do make this my last will & Testament.
I give unto my beloved Wife MARY, the use of a Mulatto girl named Hannah with increase, as also the power of disposing of her, or them, as she shall think fit among my children.
I give my Daughter MARY, a Negroe girl named Nancy and her increase to her .. heirs with this proviso, that if my Daughter should die without Lawful issue then said girl go to my Daughter BETTY and if she dies before having lawful Issue, then she and her Increase to be divided amongst my wife and children as hereafter directed.
1 desire that what ever Estate I may have left, after payment of my Debts, shall be applyed to the Support of my wife, & the children I have, or may have by her, during the time she remains a widow, or after, so as not to exceed ten years from the time of my death & then to be divided in Equal shares between her and all my children excepting my Son ANTHONY, for whom I have done more than I expect to be able to do for the others.
And lastly, I appoint my beloved wife MARY STROTHER whole & sole Executrix .. 29th August 1765. Anthony Strother

Stafford SC October Court 1766 Will presented by Mary Strother Exx therein named who refusing to take upon her the burthen of the Execution thereof, and will proved is admitted to record, & administration with the said will annexed granted JOS. JONES Esqr. having perform'd what is usual in such cases.
