      THIS INDENTURE made the Twenty third day of October in the fifth year of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord George the Second by the grace of God of Great Brittaine France and Ireland, King, Defender of the faith acc„ And in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and thirty one; Between JOHN REEDS of the Parish of Washington in the County of Westmorland, Planter, of one part and JOHN JETT JUNR. of the Parish of Sittingbourn in County of KING GEORGE, Planter of the other part; Wittnesseth that JOHN REEDS in consideration of the sum of Nine pounds currant money of Virginia to him in hand paid by JOHN JETT, JUNR., the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, hath and by these presents doth bargaine and sell unto JOHN JETT, JUNR. being in his actual! possession now being by virtue of a bargaine and sale for one whole year and by force of the Statute for transfering uses into possession, one track of land situate in Parish of Washington in County of Westmorland at the head of MATTOX CREEK, Beginning (the bounds of the land are repeated as in the Lease); To have and to hould all the premises unto JOHN TETT. JUNR, and his heirs; And JOHN REEDS his heirs &. the land and premise doth warrant to JOHN JEIT JUNR his heirs against all manner of persons; In Wittness whereof the said JOHN REEDS hath hereunto sett his hand & seal the day month & year

      John Jett died, testate, Culpeper County, 1771.
      Sons: Stephen, John (d. 1808), James (d. 1795), and William ;
      daughters Elizabeth Roach, Margaret Butler and Mary Tapp.
      His will was (dated 1763 and probated 1771.)

      John Jett appointed Road Surveyor vice Dickie Latham, Culpeper County, 1763.

      IN THE NAME OF GOD, Amen. I JOHN JETT of Westmorland County being sick but of perfect sence and memory, thanks be to God for it, I do make constitute and appoint this my Last Will and Testament as followeth; vizt.,
      Imprimis. I give and bequeath to my loving Son, JOHN JETT, my land I bought of JOHN TRIPLETT in KING GEORGE County to him and his heirs forever, and if my Son, JOHN, should die without heir, it is my will and desire that it be eaqually divided between my two Sons, PETER JETT and FRANCIS JETT;
      Item. I give all my land in Westmorland County and my Mill to be eaqually divided between my two Sons, PETER JETT and FRANCIS JETT, to them and their heirs forever;
      Item. I give and bequeath to my loving Son, JOHN JETT, my Negroe man Ned and his Wife, Nan, her boy Tom, my Negroe man Tom and his Wife, Hannah, to him and his heirs forever;
      Item. I give all the rest of my Negroes to be eaqually divided between my loving Wife my Sons, PETER and FRANCIS JETT, and my Daughters, MARY, ELIZABETH and ANN JETT, and their heirs forever, my Wife having her first choice.
      Item. I give my personall Estate to be eaqually divided between my Wife and my six Children, JOHN, PETER, FRANCIS, MARY, ELIZABETH and ANN JETT;
      Lastly, I appoint JOHN JETT, JUNR. and JOHN TRIPLETT Executors of this my Last Will and Testament; As Witness my hand and seal this 29th day of March 1754

      THIS INDENTURE made the twenty seventh day of April in the fifteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the grace of God of Great Brittain France and Ireland, king, Defender of the faith &c„ And in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty one, Between JOHN JETT of Westmoreland and JOHN JETT , JUNR. of County of KING GEORGE, of one part and JOHN TRIPLETT of Westmoreland County of other part; Witnesseth that JOHN JETT & JOHN JETT JUNR in consideration of the sum of five shillings Sterling to them in hand paid by JOHN TRIPLETT, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. hath and by these presents do bargain and sell unto JOHN TRIPLETT a certain parcel of Land lying in Westmoreland County and bounded; begining at the Waiding Place Point of MATTOX CREEK and runing North along the line of THOMAS SMITH 200 poles to a red Oak, thence West along a line of marked trees to the WOLF TRAP RUN. then down the Run to the Road that crosses the Run, then down the Road East to a red Oak standing by the County Road, then South to a Hiccory on MATTOX CREEK and from thence down the meanders of the Creek to the begining; the whole containing One hundred acres more or less and all appurtenances thereunto belonging; To have and to hold the land and premises with appurtenanes unto JOHN TRIPLETT and assigns from the first day of this instant during the
      full term of one year paying one Pepper Corn upon the last day of said term if lawfully demanded to the intent that by virtue of these presents and of the Statute for transfering uses into possession JOHN TRIPLETT may be in the actual possession of the premises and thereby be enabled to accept a release of the inheritance thereof to him and his heirs, In Witness wheroe the parties above mentioned have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written
