Isaac Allerton was the only son of Isaac Allerton, "merchant tailor", by his second wife, Fear, daughter of William Brewster, founder of the Plymouth Colony. in New England. He graduated at Harvard in 1650, and came to Virginia shortly after. He married Elizabeth, the sister of Thomas Willoughby, who married Sarah, daughter of Mr. Richard Thompson. Ursula, the widow of Thompson, who died after 1651, married secondly, Col. John Mottrom, and when he died, abut 1655, she married thirdly, Major George Colclough, who died about 1662 - Northumberland County Records. In the Norfolk County Records there is a reference in 1661 to Mr. George Colclough, who married the relict of Mr. Simon Overzee. She was Elizabeth, and a daughter of Capt. Adam Thorowgood, as Anne, the wife of Job Chandler, calls her "sister".

I suspect that Thomas Marshall the brother of William is the Thomas that came abord the ship James and died in Reading, MA.
Isaac Allerton came over on the Mayflower 1620 owned by none other that Thomas Weston who transported Matthew Marshall 1635.

      see link as follows
      http://alumni.media.mit.edu/~kristin/fambly/Marshall/ThomasMarshall.html

Thomas Marshall is as difficult a man to decipher, business-wise, as Isaac Allerton. To complicate matters, there were four Thomas Marshalls in eastern Massachussetts at the same time in the 17th century. To further complicate matters, this Thomas Marshall and another Thomas Marshall (a carpenter) settled in Reading, Middlessex County, MA at its founding and their names are often found near one another in early records.

Proceedings of the County Courts of Charles County 1666-1674
Volume 60, Preface 41 Introduction. xli
Twelve leases, some of considerable interest, are recorded. Three, feudal in terms and phrase, are for manor lands (Page 29, 51-52, 265). On February 23, 1668/9, Edmund Lindsay, planter, innkeeper, and gentleman, as he was variously called, assigned to Benjamin Rozer a lease of 1,000 acres of manor land lying in Charles County, which Cecilius Calvert, the second Lord Proprietary, had first leased in January, 1663/4, for twenty-one years to "Isaac Allerton Gent and Dame Elizabeth his Wife relict and Admintrix of Simon Overzee late of St John in the County of St Maries”, in consideration of Dame Elizabeth relinquishing certain of her dower rights in other Overzee lands. The annual rent, payable semi-annually at the Annunciation of the Virgin and at the feast of St. Michael the Archangel, was to be one pound sterling or its equivalent, in addition to Allerton's planting orchards of a specified number of apple and pear trees, and building and keeping in repair certain houses, barns, and stables (Page 265-6). Allerton, now described as of Northumberland County, Virginia, three years later on March 18, 1666/7, assigned his lease to Edmund Lindsay on condition that the latter carry out all the terms of the lease (Page 266-7).
And, on February 3, 1668/9, Lindsay, for the consideration of 10,000 pounds of tobacco, reassigned the lease for the remaining years of its life to Benjamin Rozer (p. 267). On August 8, 1674, Thomas Allanton, gentleman, leased to Gerard Browne, planter, both of Charles County, 100 acres of his Christian Temple Manor lying on the south side of Mattawoman or St. Thomas Creek.
The duration of the lease was "forever”, and the terms a yearly rent of the sume of foure shillings sterling or the value thereof in vendable Comodities of the Countey & on year of Indian corn” (p. 571-2). John Lewger of Charles County, gentleman, the former Provincial Secretary, and his wife Martha, on August 13, 1666, leased "forever" to John Wright of Maryland, gentleman, for the consideration of £50 sterling owing and due by Wright to Lewger, a tract of 150 acres, being a certain part of Lewger's manor of 1000 acres on St. Elizabeth's Branch upon which Wright now dwells; the amount of the rent to be one Roasting Pige and too Capons”, payable upon the fourth day of Decem-ber at "the mannor hows of the said Mannor” (Page 28-30).
Walter Beane, a justice, and his wife Elizabeth [mm note Elinor], on June 9, 1666, leased "forever” to James Walker, both of Charles County, a tract (unnamed) of 200 acres on the south side of Wicomico River, with houses, orchards, etc., upon it.
The land is described as formerly owned by Walker and as having been sold by him to Christopher Carnell, deceased, and since owned by several others until it was conveyed by Mr. Francis Doughtie "laet Minister tn this County” to Walter Beane, the now lessor; the annual rent to be four shillings of good current English money, or its equivalent in goods or commodities (Page 14-16).
Another lease, of an acre of land and the spring upon it, was recorded September 3, 1673, by John Jarbo, gentleman, of St. Mary's County, to Thomas Baker of Charles County. This spring was on an acre of land which Jarbo had reserved when he sold 299 acres of a 300 acre tract of which the one acre was a part, to John Nevill, who subsequently sold his 299 acres to Baker, who now lives upon it near the said spring. No consideration is mentioned in the deed, but the annual rent was to be "one Eare of Sund Indian Corne"

      (pp 499-500).

This is the same tract for which the Charles County Court at its
June, 1658, session, had ordered Nevill to give a new deed to Baker, as the
original deed was "righttin with pouder inke” which had faded, and "could not now bee red" (Arch. Md. LIII; 5-6).

Verdict: We find that Jos: Hardwick, Rich: Barton and the rest of the rebells that kept the garrisons are guilty of takeing and not returning goods belonging to Majr: Isaac Allerton to the vallew of 6400 pounds of tobacco but for the feather bedds" ruggs, woole beed and 80 bushells salt we find not anything not haveing proofe or acknowledgment.

At the same place resided also about the same period "Col. Richard Lee(4) late of Stratford Langton in ye County of Essex in ye Kingdom of England, Esq.,"(5) and his eldest son Dr. John Lee, the former the ancestor of the patriot Robert E. Lee; Isaac Allerton(6), late of New England, Henry Corbin, son of Thomas Corbin, Esq., of Hall End, in Wawickshire, and brother of Gawin Corbin, "citizen and leather seller" of London, and Dr. Thomas Gerrard(7), who had been a councillor in Maryland and banished from there for taking part in the rebellion of Josias Fendall.

The character of the society at Machodic was, as stated, truly suburban.
In 1659, when Samuel Mathews was governor, John Gibbon was a visitor in the house of Richard Lee(8). In this remote province his love or passion for heraldry found a signular gratification at a war dance of the native Indians, their shields of bark and Page 31.
naked bodies being painted with the colors and symbols of his favorite science. Upon his return to England, Gibbon was made, in 1670, "Blue Mantle Pursuivant of Arms in the Heralds' College." In his work styled, Introductio ad Latnian Blasoniam, he describes Lee as descended from the Lees of Shropshire, and his coat-of-arms as "Gul. a fess, chequy or, BI between 8 billets arg." I find Gibbon's book in the published list of the books of Col. Richard Lee, the second of the name(9).

The Englishmen on the banks of the Potomac mingled elegant pleasures with rude labors and perilous enterprises. There is a record of a contract in 1670 between John Lee, son of Col. Richard Lee, then deceased, Henry Corbin, Isaac Allerton, and Dr. Thomas Gerrard, for building a banqueting house at or near their respective lands(10). The English colonist acted as far as the circumstances would permit, precisely as he would in London. It was a rare thing if the richer settlers did not visit the mother country once during each year. Very different was this from the experience of the western trappers, of whom Daniel Boone was the pioneer, and who were truly isolated among the savages by the vast plains and mountain barriers.
