This Henry Child did not die in Maryland; he returned to England, having signed over his land in Philadelphia to his son Cephas, and died there sometime after 1720. His (second) wife was Ann Ball, daughter of Henry Ball (see Quaker Minute Book, Buckinghamshire Record Society); his first was Elizabeth Butler, daughter of Henry Butler, Presbyterian minister of Beaconsfield (see Spufford, Margaret, et al; "The World of Rural Dissenters" (appendix: "The Child Family of Amersham"). He was born sometime between 1632 and 1642 (the birth of a Henry Child, father Richard Child, was recorded in the parish register of Amersham, Buckinghamshire, in 1632; but there's a lacuna in the parish registers in the 1640's and '50's because of the Civil War and Commonwealth; it's possible that the first Henry died and another son was given the same name). Granted 500 acres in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, by William Penn in 1681 (in consideration of the sum of £10).
