      At the request of Hugh Mitchell, the following deed was recorded on Nay 31, 1749.
      May 6, 1749 from William Middleton Jr of CC, to Hugh Mitchell of CC, for 12,000 lbs tobacco, a tract of Manner Land, lying in Zachiah Manner in CC, leased by the Lord Proprietary's agent on Dec 25, 1741, and by William Middleton to William Middleton Jr on Feb 25, 1744. The land is bounded by the west side of a small branch called Sampsons Branch, falling into Zachiah Swamp, containing and laid out for about 110 acres. To have and to hold, to sd Hugh Mitchell, during the natural lives of sd William Middleton Jr, Robert Middleton, and Hugh Middleton, sons of William Middleton Sr of CC.       TO ALL TO WHOM these presents shall come We ROBT, GLEN and HUGH MITCHEL of the County of Prince William Merchants send Greeting. Whereas We the said ROBERT GLEN and HUGH MITCHELL in the year one thousand seven hundred and forty three forty four & forty five were employed by Messieurs GEORGE BOGLE. JOHN WILSON ALLAN & ROBERT DREGHORNS, JAMES SCOTT and ROBERT BOGLE owners of the Ship SPENCER and Merchants in Glasgow as two of their Factors or Agents to purchase Tobacco and other commodities in Virginia for the load of the said Ship and having in the course of our dealing contracted sundrie debts which are now outstanding & remain unpaid to the said Messrs. GEORGE BOGLE & COMPANY and being desirous the same should be recovered on their account, Now Know ye that we the said ROBERT GLEN & HUGH MITCHELL for divers good causes have made and appointed and by these presents do make and appoint ROBERT BOGLE of the County of Prince William Merchant for us and in our names but to the use of the said GEORGE BOGLE & COMPANY to ask demand recover and receive of all persons whatsoever in the County of Prince William and FAIRFAX or elsewhere in the Colony of Virginia or Province of MARYLAND all such sums of money and Tobacco Debts Dues and Demands whatsoever now are due unto the said GEORGE BOGLE and COMPANY and in default of payment thereof to us all lawful ways and means in our names or otherwise for the recovery thereof by attachmt, arrest or otherwise and on the receipt thereof acquittances or other sufficient discharges for the same for us and in our names to make & do all other Lawful! acts & things concerning the premises as fully in every respect as we ourselves could do if personally present confirming whatsoever our sd Attorney shall lawfully do In Witness whereof we the said ROBERT GLEN and HUGH MITCHELL have set our hands and Seals this 26th day of Augt.       - JOHN MITCHELL, Merchant, produced a Bill of Exchange drawn on ANDREW REID payable for ninety pounds, fourteen shillings to HUGH MITCHELL, Merchant, dated the fifteenth day of November 1746 and desired the same might be recorded the said MITCHELL suggesting that he had just reason to suspect the others had miscarried and he having proved by the Oath of WILLIAM WOODWARD that he said JAMES DUN sign a sett of Bills of Exchange to the said MITCHELL and that he believed this to be one of them which Bill is as follows, 'Virginia the 15th November 1746. Exchange for ninety pounds, fourteen shillings at ninety days sight of this my second Bill of Exchange, my first third and fourth [of the same tenor and date] not paid pay to Mr. HUGH MITCHELL or order the sum of ninety pounds, fourteen shillings sterling [value here received] at time make paiment and place it to Account of JAMES DUN.
