Ann Dement was m. to a man named James Waters, Jr. There were 2 men so named born at the same time at Trinity Parish, Charles Co., Md.: (1) James Waters, son of James and Susanna Waters, b. Dec. 8, 1737, and (2) James Waters, son of James and Mary Waters, b. Mar. 10, 1737/8. Source: Jourdan, Elise G., "Colonial Records of Southern Maryland," Page 4 and 6. Contributors disagree as to which James Waters, Jr. m. Ann Dement without providing any evidence for the claims. About the only clue I have seen is that the James Waters who was the father of Ann Dement's husband is probably the James Waters who was deeded "Mile End" by Benjamin McKay on Mar. 5, 1725/6 (Charles Co., Md. Circuit Court, Liber L No. 2, Page 257) But was his wife named Susannah or Mary? The James Waters, Jr., who was the son of James and Mary Waters, was a twin (sister Mary.) Were twins less likely to survive to adulthood at that time? Further research is needed.
