THIS INDENTURE made the. 16th of June 1773 Between RICHARD COVINGTON of County of FAUQUIER of one part and WILLIAM BALL of County of Culpeper of other part Witnesseth that said Richard Covington for Covenants herein after mentioned hath granted to farm let unto said William Ball Two hundred and Fifty acres of land except mines and Quaries in the Parish of Brumfield County aforesaid To Hold during the natural lives of the said William Ball, REBEKAH his Wife and his Son JAMES BALL for lives of longest liver paying yearly to the said Richard Covington Five hundred and thirty pounds of Tobacco the two first years which first payment on first of January 1774 and the succeeding Vizt 1775 same rent of Five hundred and thirty pounds of Tobacco & for every year after the annual rent of One thousand pounds of Tobacco and Cask to be paid at FREDERICKSBURG or FALMOUTH or any Convenient warehouse as above Richard Covington shall elect said William Ball to maintain all buildings and fences, not dispose of any wood or timber other than used on the plantation . . .

THIS INDENTURE mads the 15th day of September in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty eight Between WILLIAM BALL and REBECCA his Wife of County of Culpeper of one part and WILLIAM GRAY of County aforesaid of other part; Witnesseth that WILLIAM BALL and REBECCA his Wife for the full and just sum of One hundred pounds current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by WILLIAM GRAY, by these presents do bargain and sell unto WILLIAM GRAY his heirs one certain parcel of land containing One hundred and twenty acres (more or less) lying in Culpeper County and BROMFIELD Parish in the Great Fork of RAPPAHAWOCK RIVER in TURKEY HOLE MOUNTAIN and is bounded, Begining at two small white Oaks & a red Oak on STONEHOUSERUN, and runing thence South eighteen degrees West one hundred and thirty four poles, thence forty five degrees West thence four pole to three corner red Oaks on a Hill side, thence North twenty five degrees West twenty four poles to fwo Chesnuts & a Hickory, thence North eighty West fifty pole to three Maples on STONE HOUSE RUN, thence down the several courses of said Run to the begining; with all houses orchards fences profits and Emoluments to the same belonging, and the estate right and interest of WILLIAM BALL and REBECCA his Wife in and to the bargained land and premises; To have and to hold the aforesaid Hundred and twenty acres of land with the appurtenances belonging unto WILLIAM GRAY his heirs; And WILLIAM BALL and REBECCA his Wife and their heirs the land and premises unto WILLIAM GRAY his heirs shall warrant and forever defend by these presents against all persons whatsoever; freed and discharged from all former titles mortgages dowers and executions whatsoever; In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have interchangeably hereto set their hands &fixed their seals the day &year first above written

THIS INDENTURE made the 15th day of September in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty eight Between WILLIAM BALL and REBECCA his Wife of County of Culpeper of one part and WILLIAM GRAY of County aforesaid of other part; Witnesseth that WILLIAM BALL and REBECCA his Wife for the full and just sum of Two hundred pounds current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by WILLIAM GRAY, by these presents doth bargain and sell unto WILLIAM GRAY his heirs a certain parcel of land containing Two hundred acres lying in Culpeper County and BROMFIELD Parish in the Great Fork of RAPPAHANNOCK RIVER in a place called TURKEY HOLE and the same is bounded, Begining at two sdwh ite Oalrs and a red Oak standing on South side STONEHOUSE RUN, corner to JOHN LAWLES and runing thence with his line South 18 degrees West 188 poles to a white Oak and a red Oak and Chesnut on a Ridge, corner to GEORGE MARTIN, thence with his line South 60 degrees West 266 poles to two Hickories and a Chesnut Oak on side of TURKEY HOLE MOUNTAIN, corner to said MARTIN, thence North 30 degrees West 200 poles to two white Oaks aad one red Oak in STONEROUSES line, thence with his line South 10 degrees West 52 poles to three white Oaks and a red Oak, corner to STONEHOUSE on the North side of STONEHOUSES RUN, thence down the several courses of said Run North 60 degrees East 32 poles. North 80 degrees East 120 poles and North 50 degrees Esst 16 poles to the begining; Also one other parcel of land lying and joining on the lines of the aforesaid tract of land & containing One hundred acres and is bounded, Begining at a Chesnut and Spanish Oak a corner to JAMES MAXWELL and runing thence North thirty degrees West 166 pole to a white Oak saplin on side of aMountain, thence S. 60 degrees West 108 to two Chesnuts and a Chesnut Oak on a Mountain, thence South 30 degreesEast 152 poles to two Chesnut Oaks in a line of said MAXWELL, thence with his line North 58 degrees East 180 pole to the begining place with all houses fences and water courses, profts and emoluments to the same belonging and all estate right title & interest of WILLIAM BALL and REBECCA his Wife of in and to said bargained lands; To have and to hold the tract of land with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto WILLIAM GRAY his heirs. And WILLIAM BALL and REBECCA his Wife and their heirs the tracts of land and premises unto WILLIAM GRAY his heirs will warrant and forever defend by these presents against any person freed and discharged of and from all former titles dowers or demands of all persons; In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands & fixed their seals the day & year first written
