      On 23 July 1761, Richard Beale and Elizabeth, his wife, of St. Thomas Parish, Orange County, VA deeded 800 acres to George Bruce located in Orange County, VA, being part of 1000 acres granted to John Madison, Gent., of King & Queen County by patent dated 28 September 1728 in the present parish of St. Thomas and the County of Orange and adjoining the lands of Capt. John Camm, George Taylor, James Madison, Erasmus Taylor and this land was given and confirmed unto the grantor as Elizabeth Madison and to her heirs forever only expecting 200 acres to be made sure in fee simple to Frances William and his heirs and assigns forever and said Francis Williams being now possessed of the same which said gift and proviso being made by the said John Madison, Gent., to the said Elizabeth Madison per record of Spotsylvania County.       Simpson to Williams Lease
      This indenture made the 25th day of May 1761 between Joseph Simpson, clerk of the parish of Lunenburg in the county of Richmond of one part and Francis Williams of the parish of Washington of the other part. Witnesseth that Joseph Simpson in consideration of 5 shillings current money of Virginia has sold by these presents to Francis Williams, two tracts of land containing 400 acres lying in the parish of Washington which tracts of land he the said Joseph Simpson purchased of Edward Knowles. To have and to hold from the day of the date hereof for and during the full term of one year from thence next ensuing yielding and paying yearly the rent of one ear of Indian corn if demanded to the intent and purpose and of the statute for transferring uses into possession, the said Francis Williams may be in actual possession to be better enabled to accept and grant and release of the reversion and inheritance thereof to him. In witness whereof Joseph Simpson hath to this present indenture set his hand and seal the day month and year first above written.

      Simpson to Williams Release
      This indenture made the 26th day of May 1761 between Joseph Simpson, clerk and Mary Simpson his wife of the parish of Lunenburg in the county of Richmond of one part and Francis Williams of the parish of Washington of the other part. Witnesseth that Joseph Simpson in consideration of 130 pounds current money of Virginia has sold and released by these presents unto Francis Williams, in his actual possession by virtue of a bargain and sale made by indenture bearing date the day next before the date of these presents and by force of the statue for transferring uses into possession all those two several tracts containing by estimation 400 acres lying in the parish of Washington in the county aforesaid that the said Joseph Simpson purchased of Edward Knowles.
      In witness whereof the said Joseph Simpson and Mary Simpson his wife to this indenture have interchangeably set their hands and seals the day month and year first above written.

      Williams to Jett & Bernard Indenture
      This indenture made the 31st day of May 1768 between Frances Williams of the County of Westmoreland of the one part and Thomas Jettt and William Bernard of the other part. Witnessed that Francis Williams for the uses, intent and purposes hereafter mentioned has sold by these presents unto Thomas Jett and William Bernard the following lands, Negroes and effects to wit; one parcel of land in the parish of Washington in County of Westmoreland containing 400 acres or thereabouts whereon Benjamin Settle now resides, 10 Negroes; Landon, Jemra, Jerry, Lucy, Lucy and her child Lewis, Cyrus, Ben, Milly, Winney and Lett, 22 head of cattle, two horses, five beds and furniture, six ewes and lambs, and all the household and kitchen furniture belonging to the said Frances Williams at his residence in the parish aforesaid. To have and to hold the said tract and premises together with the said Negroes and other effects above mentioned unto the said Thomas Gent and William Bernard in trust to be sold for the pavement of the demands of the creditors of the said Frances Williams who have levied attachments on the effects of the said Williams and who has excepted judgments according to the priority in the first place and for the payment of all his other creditors after adjustment of their several demands and to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever.       Jett & Bernard to Morris Indenture
      This indenture made the 29th day of May 1769 between Thomas Jett of the County of King George and William Bernard of the County of Westmoreland, trustees of Frances Williams also of the County of Westmoreland of the one part and Charles Morris of the County of Westmoreland of the other part. Whereas Frances Williams by a certain indenture of bargain and sale did among other things sell unto Thomas Jett and William Bernard of parcel of land lying in the parish of Washington in County of Westmoreland containing by estimation 400 acres in trust to be sold for the payment of his debts and whereas the said Thomas Jett and William Bernard in pursuance of the said trust did expose to sale the said tract of land in the said Charles Morris having offered 130 pounds which was the most that could be got. This indenture therefore witness that the said Thomas Jett and William Bernard in consequence thereof and in pursuance of the said trust in the said sum of money have sold by these presents unto Charles Morris the aforesaid tract of land and appurtenances thereunto belonging. In witness whereof the said Thomas Jett and William Bernard have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above mentioned.
