Will of REUBEN DANIEL. of Orange County
my executor to comply with the same (satisfy debts) ..
I empower them to sell any part of my estate that shall hereafter be lend to my beloved wife ..
I give and bequeath unto my son, Reuben Daniel, one negro girl named Delpha and her increase .. give .. six sheep of the midling kind out of my whole stock ..
daughter, Nancy Daniel, one negro girl named Jenny, one young mare colt and one bed and furniture ..
to my daughter, Lucy Conner, one negro boy named Dick ..
to my son, William Merry Daniel, one negro boy named Simon, one young sorrel horse, one saddle and bridle, one bed and furniture, one small gun and twenty bushels of oats .. (also) a tract of land in said county of Orange lying on the main road near Bledsoe's meeting house .. 138 acres .. (if William Merry Daniel should die before age 21) his share to be equally divided between my two daughters, Nancy Daniel and Frankey Daniel, and my grandson, Reuben Conner (if grandson should die before age 21) .. his mother, my daughter,
Lucy Conner, shall receive my daughter, Betty Davers, in case her husband, James Davers, doth not recover any thing from my estate by a law suit .. one negro girl named Isbell, one bed and furniture already received .. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Elizabeth Daniel, the bed and furniture she now lies on .. and lend her during her natural life the remainder of my estate .. after her decease .. the land and plantation I now live on to be equally divided between my three children, William Merry Daniel, Nancy Daniel and Frankey Daniel .. (the same listed) and my daughter, Lucy Conner, all the remainder of my estate lent my wife at her death.
I have already given my son, Robert Daniel, full proportion of my estate and cannot in justice to my other children give him any thing more and should not have mentioned him in my will only that it might not be thought I had forgot or neglected him .. I appoint my friends, Mr. William Smith and Mr. Edward Herndon of Spotsylvania County,
my executors this 2nd day of January 1779.

At a court held on Thursday the 25th Feby 1779 will of Reuben Daniel, deceased, presented into court by William Smith and Edward Herndon, Gent. .. proved by .. William Plunkett, James Coleman and Joseph Hawkins .. alterations proved by .. John Collins and John Hobday .. Robert Daniel came into court and declared he had no objection to the said will .. James Madison, Thomas Barbour and James Coleman, securities bond in the penalty of twenty thousand pounds.
