      1722-1730 Essex County, Virginia Wills, Bonds & Inventories, No. 4; [John Frederick Dorman]; Page 207. Will of Charles Gresham of the Parish of St Ann's and County of Essex, being sick and weak in body dated 3 March 1725.
      Unto welbeloved son Thomas Gresham one Negro woman Jenny when he shall come to the age of twenty one years
      Unto my welbeloved wife Mary Gresham and my five sons Robert Gresham, Thomas Gresham, and William Gresham and Charles Gresham and John Gresham eleven head of cattle equally divided.
      Unto my welbeloved wife and my five sons all my personall estate equally all my hoggs, beds, horses and dishes and plates.
      My well beloved wife Mary look after my Children till they shall come of age twenty one years.

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that we SIMON MILLER and THOMAS HAWKINS are held and firmly bound unto WILLIAM DAINGERFIELD Esqr., THOMAS WARING, SALVATOR MUSCOE, JAMES GARNETT, RICHARD TYLER JUNR. & ALEXANDER PARKER Gent. Justices of Essex County in the sum Five hundred pounds Sterling this xxith day of March MDCCXXXI. The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bound Simon Miller Guardian of THOMAS GRESHAM his heirs shall well & truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Orphan all such Estate or Estates as soon as the sd Orphan shall attain to lawful age or when thereunto required by the Justices of the peace for the County of Essex as also to save & keep harmless the sd Justices from all trouble that shall or may arise about the sd Estate Then this obligation to be void . . .
