      IN THE NAME OF GOD, Amen. I GRIFFIN ROBERTS of Essex County being sick and weake of body but in perfect minde & memory thanks be to Almighty God, do make my last Will & Testament in manner & forme as followeth: returneing my soule into ye hands of Almighty God who gave it in sure & certain hopes of ye Resurrection of my Body to be reunited to my Soule to Salvation in & through ye merrits of my dear Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ & my body to be Christianlike buried at ye discretion of my Executrs: hereafter appointed
      Imprs. After my debts paid, I give & bequeath my worldly goods both personal & real! as is hereafter mentioned.
      I give to my Daughter, TABYTHA, two of my largest Pewter Dishes.
      I give to my dear Wife & my Daughter, ANN, three Pewter Dishes.
      I give to my Wife, my Daughter TABITHA, & my Daughter, ANN, ten chaires to be divided between them, my Daughter, TABITHA, to have four of them; I appoint a Steer of seven years old &a young Horse of four years old & a Mare of five years old, to be sold for ye payment of my Land
      I also appoint my dear Wife my old Mare to her and her heirs for ever; & I give ye fold of ye first bringing of ye old Mare to my Daughter, ANN, be it Mare or Horse, for her & her heirs for ever.
      I give to my Daughter, TABYTHA, ye one halfe of my land & her heirs forever & I give ye other halfe of my land between my dear Wife & my Daughter, ANNE, And at ye decease of my sd Wife, all this land to my Daughter, ANN, and her heirs for ever.
      I give to my Daughter, ALICE, a pr. of Andirons and a Spitt. I give my dear Wife all the rest of my goods & chattells, she paying my debts, & appoint and nominate my loveing Wife, ANN ROBERTS, and Capt. EDWARD THOMAS, my Executors of this my Will as Witness my hand & seale this tenth day of December 1694

      Essex County Court 10th of May 1694
      - RALPH WHITTON complaineth against RICHD. HUTCHINS in a plea of ye Case for that, that is to say, he ye Defendt. on or about ye last of November or beginning of December in ye year of our Lord 1688, did on ye Plantacon whereon GRIFFEN ROBERTS now liveth maliciously kill & destroy a Mare which properly belonged to ye Plt. whereby ye Plt. saith he is damnified & damage hath sustained to ye value of Two thousand pounds of sweet sented tobo: & cask, whereupon he hath brought his suit & humbly prayes Judgmt., against ye Defendt. for his sd damage so unjustly susteyned together with costs; To which ye Defends. by JOHN TAVERNER, his Attorney, appear'd & for plea saith that ye Act of Limitacon ye 21. Janry: 16th he ought not to answer &c., In reply to ye Defendts. plea, ye Plt. by JNO. EVERITT his Attorney sait that if ye Defendt. expects ye benefit' of a Statute Law he ought to chew forth ye sd Statute at Large & thereof he humbly demands Judgmt., on consideracon whereof this Court do adjudge ye Defendts. plea to be Law & upon his mocon by his sd Attorney this Court have granted him a nonsuit against ye Plt. to be paid according to Law with costs

      - RALPH WHITTON complaineth against GRIFFEN ROBERTS of this County in a plea of ye Case for that, that is to say, he ye Defendt. on or about the last of November or beginning of December in ye year of our Lord 1686, did at ye Plantacon whereon he now liveth malitiously kill & destroy a Mare which properly belonged to ye Plaintiff, whereby ye Plaintiff saith he is damnified & damage hath susteyned to ye value of Two thousand pounds of sweet sented tobacco & casque whereupon he bringeth his suit and humbly prayes Judgmt. against ye Defendt. for his said Damage so unjustly susteyned together with costs &c., But ye Plt. not appearing to prosecute nor ye Defendt. to answer this Court have dismist ye same
      - Ordered that GARRET FITZ GERRALD who was subpena'd as an evidence in a suit depending between RALPH WHITTON Plt. & GRIFFEN ROBERTS Defendt., be paid by ye Plt. for one dayes attendance according to Law with costs

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I EDWARD THOMAS of the County of Essex in the Colony of Virga:, Mercht., having received of GRIFFIN ROBERTS of the same County and Colony, Planter, the just quantity of Five thousand five hundred pounds of good swt. tobacco and caske to me in hand paid or secured to be paid, by these presence sell make over and imediately possess the said GRIFFIN ROBERTS his heires or assignes wth: the within mentioned Plantation and pr:cell of land with all houses and buildings, all the woods and timber trees with all the pr:fits to the same belonging in as full and large a manner as is within exprest. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seale this Eighth day of Janry: 1693
