Lease of 150 acres in St. Mark's Parish on the north side of the River Rappidanne, part of 40,000 acres called the Spotsylvania Tract. For lives of William Christopher and Morton Christopher his son.       KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that we MORTON CHRISTOPHER, JOHN CLORE JUNR. and MICHAEL WILHOITE of County of Culpeper are held & firmly bound to PHILIP CHELFE of aforesaid County in the full and just sum of Three thousand pounds in Gold or Silver to which payment well and truly to be made we bind ourselves our heirs and assigns in the Penal sum of Six thousand pounds of the before mentioned money
      The Condition of the above Obligation is this that the said PHILIP CHELFE some years ago purchased a tract of land of Mr. JAMES BELFORD containing Five hundred forty eight acres lying on the foot of the DOUBLE TOP MOUNTAIN on the Waters of the ROBINSON RIVER in said County which said Tract of land the said CHELFE never obtained any right of the said BELFORD than the purchase now part of the said Tract of land the said CHELFE conveyed to the said CLORE, but with no other right than that which the said CHELFE obtained of the said BELFORD, the other part of said Tract is at this time in possession of the said CHRISTOPHER but he the said CHRISTOPHER hold the said land by no other right than that before mentioned. Now the said CLORE and CHRISTOPHER do by these presents agree to and with PHILIP CHELFE to acquit him the said CHELFE and his heirs and assigns from makeing any other Right to them the said CLORE and CHRISTOPHER or their heirs or assigns than the above mentioned and that if any dispute or disturbance shall hereafter arise concerning the above mentioned land, they the said CLORE and CHRISTOPHER do by these presents oblige themselves to Defend the said CHELFE and his heirs from any damage that may come against the said CHELFE or his heirs concerning the said land. Nov if the said CHRISTOPHER and CLORE shall well and truly comply with this agreement according to the tenor of the above Bond that then this obligation shall be void and of no Effect otherwise to remain in full force power and virtue as Witness our hands and Seals the (blank) day of (blank) 1782.

      THIS INDENTURE made the 26th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & Eighty six Between JOHN WAYLAND & GODFREY YAGER, Executors of the Last Will and Testament of ADAM WAYLAND deced., and MORTON CHRISTOPHER and (blank) his Wife of the one part and JOHN HUFFMAN of the other part; Witnesseth that whereas ADAM WAYLAND in his last Will and Testament devised his lands in equal portion to all his Children, ELIZABETH, Wife to MORTON CHRISTOPHER, being one of them, Now for and in consideration of the sum of fifty five pounds by these presents doth bargain sell & confirm unto said HUFFMAN his heirs all that dividend of Land containing by estimation forty two acres be the same more or less lying in County of Culpeper on MUDDY RUN, a branch of the ROBERSON RIVER, on thereof the East side and bounded; Begining at 2 Pines in JOHN HUFFMANs line, thence with sd. line No. eighty two degrees East one hundred & thirteen poles to three Pines corner to sd. HUFFMAN, thence South six degrees East fifty eight poles to two saplins, corner to ANDY: JOHNSTON, thence with his line South eighty four degrees West one hundred twenty poles to a Stone in the Plantation, thence the true course to the begining, Together with all buildings orchards profits commodities & appurtenances to the same belonging, also all right title claim or demand whatsoever of the sd. MORTON CHRISTOPHER & ELIZABETH his Wife to the same; To have and to hold the sd. Forty two acres of land lying and bounded as above with its appurtenances forever; In Witness whereof the parties have interchangeably set their hands and seals the year & date as above written
