Dec 20, 1753 from John Padason of Prince William County, Virginia, but late of CC, planter, to Robert Dade of CC, Gent, for 15 £and for divers other good causes, a tract of land in CC called Padsons Chance, bounded by a white oak standing in the woods on the north side of Bourn's Road, a tract of land called Perts Progress, containing and now laid out for about 50 acres, according to the certificate of survey thereof, returned to the Land Office dated Jun 14, 1742, as by the patent more at large appears. Signed - John Pattison. Wit - R Harrison (Harison), Walter Hanson. Elizabeth, the wife of sd John Padason, consented to this deed. Recorded May 25, 1754.

May 24, 1780 from Robert Knox, Gentleman, and Rose Townshend Knox, his wife, of CC, to General William Smallwood of CC, for 2500 lbs of crop tobacco, a tract of land in Durham Parish in CC, called Pattisons Chance, originally taken up by John Pattison by virtue of a common warrant, which was executed and a certificate of the survey returned to the Land Office bearing date Jun 14, 1742, as by reference to the patent will more at large appear, which sd tract called Pattisons Chance was afterwards conveyed by sd Pattison, on Dec 20, 1753, to Robert Dade, father of the afd Rose Townshend, to whom it descended after the death of her sd father, Robert Dade, bounded by Chickamuxon Woods on the south side of a small branch, and on the north side of Bowens Road, being the beginning tree of a tract of land called Pearts Progress, containing and laid out for about 50 acres.
