      TO ALL XPIAN PEOPLE TO WHOME these presents shall come I ROBERT CLEMENTS of the County of Rappahanock Planter send Greeting. Knowe ye that I the said ROB. CLEMENTS for divers good causes & valuable consideracons me thereunto moveing doe give bargaine sell & confirme unto THOMAS HARPER of the abovesd County Planter & his heirs for Ever one prcell of land scituate lying & being on the South side of PUSCATACON POCOSON & of the Westermost side of a Branche called & known by the name of the MIDDLE BRANCH wch sd land is parte & parcell of a tract of land held by a Pattent by the said CLEMENT & HARPER To Have and To Hold the sd prcell of land unto the sd THO HARPER & his heires for ever with all proffits comodities & apprtenances thereunto belonging without the lett or molestacon of mee the sd ROBT.       TO ALL TO WHOM &c, I Sr: WM: BERKELEY Knight Governor & Capt. General of Virginia send Greeting in or: Lord God everlasting. Whereas &c. Now know ye that I ye sd Sr. WM. BERKLEY Knt. Governor &c. doe wth ye consent of ye Councell of State accordingly grant unto THOMAS HARPER & ROBERT CLEMENS seaven hundred acres of land being in Rappae County & upon PISCATAWAY SWAMP lying between ye lands of JAMES BOUGHAN & FRANCIS BROWNE & bounding as followeth ViZt. beginning at a corner Gume in a Branch of ye MAINE SWAMP & runing thence West by marked trees over certaine branches, thence No: by West from a leaning white Oak to ye MAINE SWAMP to a corner ye River & LITLE ISLAND thence down ye Swamp to JAMES BOUGHANs white Oak to ye Eastward of a Branch, thence from that white Oak So: So: West to ye Branch & up ye Branch to corner Poplar, thence So: by East dividing this land from ye land of JAMES BOUGHAN to ye place it begann, ye sd land being due unto them ye said THOMAS HARPER & ROBERT CLEMENS by & for ye transportation of Fourteene psons into this Collony whose names are in ye Records mentioned undr. this Pattent; To have & to hold ye sd Land &c., yeilding & paying &c., Provided &c., Given at JAMES CITTY under my hand & ye Seale of this Colony this 27th day of February 1665 & in ye Eighteenth yeare of ye Reigne of or; Soveraigne Lord king Charles ye 2d &c.

      Recognitr in Cur Com Rapae 2 die Martii 1669 Recordatr x die Test ROBT, PAYNE CI Cur The Deposition of THOMAS HARPER aged 50 yeares or thereabout doth declare that about nine or ten yeares since yor: Depont. together wth ROBERT CLEMENTS seated a tract of land towards ye head of PISCATAWAY CREEK wch they had a joynt Pattent for, & going to Seat it by Joynt consent since ye sd HARPER & CLEMENTS sent for two of ye neighbours, FRANCIS BROWNE & THOMAS COOPER & in prsence of them marked some trees intending to make a Division of ye same & when wee had soe done, wee did agree to take from under each others hand something in order to ye marking ye Division but wee did not doe it but resolved that there should be no division until wee came both together in Court, & further saith not HARPER
