PAYNEs land whereon he liveth So: by E. 100 poles to a marked white Oake near a Run side whence West into the Woods next the land of myne of five hundred & Sixty acres being the Eastermost end of a PATT. of 2750 acres for the compleating of the sd foure hundred acres bearing date the 17th of Aprll. 1667 & knowne by the name of WEST FOLIA To Have and To Hold the sd foure hundred acres from me my heirs to them the sd LEWIS FLOYD and THOMAS WADELOW their heirs they the said LEWIS and WADELOW paying and discharging the Rights rents & Services thereof due & of Right accustomed In Wittness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale this 23th of 8br 1668

TO ALL TO WHOM &c. Now Know yee &c. That I Sr. WM. BERKELEY Knt. &c. doe with the consent & advice of the Council &c. give and grant unto Lt. Coll. JOHN WASHINGTON five hundred and sixty acres of land in the Freshes of RAPPA about two miles from the River side beginning at a white Oake neare a branch side of a Creeke called COGHILL CREEKE that issueth into a Creek called Mr. LUCAS his CREEKE whence running into the woods for length by a line of trees that parts this land & the Land of BETHL. GILSON We, to a white Oake thence No. by We. to a marked Pocickery near the land of Mr. ROBERT PAYNE whence So. to the place begun at the said land being due to the said WASHINGTON as followeth (Vitt) being formerly granted to Capt. ALEXANDER FLEMING by Pattent dated the fourth day of September 1667, and by the said FLEMING sold to ELIZABETH HOSKINS and by her deserted & is now granted by Order of the Genl. Court dated the 2 of October 1671 and is further due by Transportation of Eleven persons into this Collony whose names are on the records mentioned underneath this Pattent To Have and to hold the said land wth his due share of all mines & mineals withall rights and priviledges withall profitts and hereditaments whatsoever to the said land belonging to him the said WASHINGTON his heirs and assigns forever in as large manner as is expressed in a Charter of Orders from the late Treasurer and Company dated the 15th of 9ber 1618 or by the Letters Pattents to be held of our Sovereigne Lord the King paying to our Sovereigne for every fifty acres of land hereby granted yearly at the Feast of St. Michael! Archangle the Fee Rent, of One shillings which payment to be made yearely from yeare to yeare according to his Majesties Instructions of the 12th of September 1662 provided that if the sd Lt. Coll. WASHINGTON doe not seate or plant on the said land within three years next ensuing then it shall be lawfull for any Adventurer or Planter to make choice & plant on the same. Given under my hand & the seale of the Collony the 3 of November 1673

THIS INDENTURE made the Sixteenth day of December 1678 and in the xxxth yeare of the Raigne of or: Soveraigne Lord King Charles ye Second of England &c. Between GEORGE SOUTHEN of the Parish of Sittingbourne in ye County of Rappae:, Planter, of one part and GEORGE JONES of the Parish & County aforesaid Gent. of the other part, Witnesseth that GEORGE SOUTHEN for diverse good causes hath sold unto GEORGE JONES his heires & assignes forever one gray Mare branded wth the KATERINE WHEELE on the neare Shoulder, formerly puchsed of HUGH WILLIAMS, one bay Mare filley about six months old, one grey stone horse branded wth J S on the neare buttock, five cows, two heiffers of three yeares old, two Bulls of three yeares old, two yearling calves, together wth all and every their yearly encrease, alsoe one Serant boy having two yeares to serve from April! next after the date hereof, alsoe two hundred acres of land scituate in the fresher next & adjoyning to Mr: DANLL: GAINES which I lately purchased of LEWIS LOYD, alsoe all the land whereon I now live together wth all my utensils, houshold stuffe & implemts; of houshold stuffe, good & chattells whatsoever now in my possession, To have hold & enjoy all the above mentioned goods, catle, chattels, land, houshold stuffe to him the said GEORGE JONES his heires and assignes forever without the denial! of him the said GEORGE SOUTHEN his heires or any other persons whatsoever Provided nevertheless and it is the true meaning that if the abovesaid GEORGE SOUTHEN his heires doe well & truely pay unto abovesaid GEORGE JONES his heires the neate sume of Six thousand eight hundred thirty & seven pounds of good sound merchantable tobacco and cask cleare of ground leaves and trash convenient in Rappae: County att or upon the 10th of October next at one intire paymt. wth allowance or interest of Ten p cent for the same, Then these prsents & every thing therein conteyned shall cease & be void otherwise to remaine in full force. BE IT KNOWNE unto all men that it is concluded and agreed upon according to a former Obligation to devide a parcel! of land Between LEWIS FLOYD [Lloyd] of the County of Rappa: and Parish of Farnham and WILLIAM PHILLIPS of the aforesd. County and Parish, it being don by two indifferent men, I the sd LEWIS FLOYD do by these presents warrant unto the sd WM. PHILLIPS his part thereof Beginning upon the line of ROGER WILLIAMS at a Hickory running a line of marked trees right across to the line of JNO. HARFORD and another MORGAN To have and to hold the sd land with all its rights and priviledges belonging thereunto to him the sd WILLIAM PHILLIPS his heires and the sd part of the land so warranted by the sd LEWIS LOYD unto the sd WM. PHILLIPS is that part next the HOUSE BRIDGE SWAMP and I the sd LEWIS FLOYD do by these presents warrant this the sd land from me my heirs to him the sd WM. PHILLIPS his heires for ever And further I the sd LEWIS FLOYD do hereby bind myself for JOANE my now Wife to acknowledge to him the sd WM. PHILLIPS all her right and interest in the sd land when soever it is by him the sd WM. NOW KNOW ye therefore that I the said PHILLIP LUDWELL Esqr. &c. do hereby under the conditions and provisors aftermentioned make over and assign unto JOANE LOYD, Widow & Administratrix of LEWIS LOYD of RAPPA: County deced, and Parish of NORTHFARNHAM, One hundred fifty and nine acres of Land being in the aforesaid County and Parish formerly surveyed and taken up by her deced Husband, LEWIS LOYD, as by Survey dated February the 6th 1681; under the hand of Mr. EDWIN CONWAY appears in the Office, the which Survey & benefitt thereof the said LOYD gave to his Wife by his Last Will and Testament and is bounded as followeth: Beginning at an Oak standing in or near the Line of ROGER WILLIAMS near the Plantation and on a Hill by or near the Spring and running East to a Spanish Oak, then North West o a Stake by a small red Oak, then North West to a Hickory, then South West to a red Oak, South to a Chesnut, then South East to a Stake by a red Oak, then South then North East to a Spanish Oak, then North East along the line of ROGER WILLIAMS, South East to the place it began, Together with all woods waters timbers &c., To have & to hold &c. Yeilding & paying &c.
