Frances Bruce's husband was Gerard Banks, Jr. It was her daughter who married Hening, the compiler of the Statutes, and it was her granddaughter, Mrs. Schermerhorn, who wrote the famous lines on old Blandford Church, so long attributed to Tyrone Power, the Irish actor. William Bruce Banks, her son, was educated at the College of William and Mary, and, during many years, served as the attorney for the Commonwealth in the Superior Court for the Halifax district, which embraced seven counties of the Southside.
