WILLIAM CLAIBORNE of the County of NEW KENT in Virginia, Esqr., out of the naturall affection I beare unto my well beloved Sonne, LEONARD CLAIBORNE, & for diverse & very good causes have granted unto the sd. LEONARD CLAIBORNE one cowe about three yeares of age of a darke browse colter marked with a slitt in the left care & a nick under ye right eare together with a cowe Calfe by her side; the sd, cowe & Calfe being now at WICOCOMOCO in the possession of JAMES DASHEILL; To have &enjoy the sd: cowe and Calfe to him the sd: LEONARD CLAIBORNE his heires and assignes for ever, together with all their increase both male & female from the sd. Coll. WILLIAM CLAIBORNE his heires or assignes from any p:sons that may lay any claime to the ad: cowe and Calfe; In Witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seale( )

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I WM: SEDGWICK, Attorney of LEONARD CLAIBURNE of St. Eliz: Parish in the ISLAND of JAMAICA Gent., have granted lett and to farme lett unto JOHN WAUGH of Stafford County, Clerk, his heires and assignes one messuage and devident of land being on the North side of the Rappa. River and beginning at a marked Beach by a small Gutt over against a ledge of Rocks on the South side of the River and is above three miles below the lowest FALL extending for breadth by or near the River side W: N: East of a pole to a red Oak, thence into the Woods, E: N: E: to a white Oake, thence 5: S: E: of like distance of their opposite
      course above mentioned, the said land contay.ning Two thousand acres of land granted by Pattent bearing date the 2d of June 1666 to Colo: CATLETT, and by the sd Colo. JNO. CATLETT assigned over to WM: and LEONARD CLAIBORNE, Brothers, by Deed bearing date September the 8th 1668 and coming and accruing w to the sd LEONARD CLAIBURNE asS survivour of the joynt purchasers To have and to hold to him the sd JOHN WAUGH his heires and assignes abovesd for and during the space of one whole yeare to begin at the date of these presents and to be fully accomplished and ended for the compleat term and time of one yeare the sd WAUGH yeilding and paying therefore yearly the Chief Rent which shall be due to the Lord of the Fee In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and affixed my seale the 25th of July 1688

      KNOW ALL MEN by these presents that I WILLIAM SEDGWICK of NEW KENT COUNTY in the Dominion of Virginia Attorney of Mr. LEONARD CLAYBURNE of the Island of JAMAICA Gent. by vertue of Lettr: of Attorney to me the sd SEDGWICK granted by the aforesd CLAYBURNE proved in NEW KENT COUNTY and there recorded and me im- powering do hereby on the behalfe of the sd CLAIBURNE fully and absolutely release land for ever quitt claime to JOHN WAUGH of STAFFORD COUNTY his heires being now in quiet and peacable possession of one tract of land being in the Freshes of the Rappa: River begining three miles below the lowest FALLS leased to the abovesd WAUGH by Lease bearing date July 23d 1688 all the right and interest which ever did or might have belonging to the abovesd CLAIBURNE or any by or under him Together with all appurtenances housing fencing gardens as all privilidges to be free from the claim of the same this being for and in consideration of Seventy pounds Sterl: money in hand paid or secured to be paid In Witness my hand July the 24th in the year of our Lord 1688

      TO ALL XPIAN PEOPLE to whom this present writing shall come I JOHN CHADWELL of STAFFORD County, Cooper, send Greeting in our Lord Everlasting this 6th; day of Novembr: 1697. Now Know ye that I the said JOHN CHADWELL for the sum of Eight thousand pounds of tobacco in hand paid before the sealing & delivery hereof by these presents have granted unto WILLIAM FITZHUGH of STAFFORD County his heires and assignes forever one parcel or tract of Land conteyning Three hundred & fifty acres scituate & being in Richmond County, formerly RAPPAHANOCK County, and in the Freshes thereof, being part of a Patent of Two thousand acres of Land granted to Colnll, JOHN CATLETT dated 2d: of June 1666, & by him sold to WILLIAM & LEONARD CLAYBURNE the 8th: of Septembr: 1668, & by severall meane conveyances sold & made over to me the said JOHN CHADWELL my heires & assignes for ever as appeares by the County Court Record of RAPPAHANNOCK, Beginning at the mouth of a Run call'd CLAYBURNES SWAMP wch: Run devided the said land from a tract of land sold by Mr. JOHN WAUGH to Doctr: EDWD. MADOX out of the aforesaid granted Patent of Two thousand acres & extending up the River North North West to a marked tree by the River side which is the deviding corner tree betwixt this land & a tract of land lately belonging to GEO: SHEPHEARD, & from the said tree into the woods by a line of marked trees East North East which is the deviding line betwixt this land & the said GEORGE SHEPHEARDs, from thence by s line of marked trees South Southeast to a marked Hickory a corner tree of the aforesaid Doctr: EDWARD MADOX line to a marked Beech by the Run of CLAYBURNES SWAMP aforesaid, finally downs the said branch to the first beginning, with all & singular its rights & appurtinances belonging, To have to hold the said Land un to the said WM. FITZHUGH his heires & assigns forever, And I the said JOHN CHADWELL for myself my heires the said Tract of Land before sold will warrant & forever defend from the claimer of any manner of persons whatsoever and that it is freely & clearly acquitted & discharged from all manner of other incombrances whatsoever.
