      THIS INDENTURE made this 21st day of Jany: Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and Eighty eight Between ABRAM MAURY of County of Culpeper of one part and JOHN THOMPSON of same County of other part; Witnesseth that whereas the said JOHN THOMPSON hath bargained and sold to said ABRAM MAURY two certain Negroes, a boy & girl, for the sum of Eighty three pounds six shillings to be paid in Gold or Silver on the first day of January one thousand seven hundred and Ninety six And the said ABRAM MAURY being desirous to make JOHN THOMPSON secure in receiving the aforesaid sum at the time stipulated for the payment as above mentioned by mortgaging to JOHN THOMPSON the following slaves, Vizt. Billy, about five years old and Lucy about ten years old, now living with said ABRAM MAURY on his Plantation; Now This Indenture Witnesseth that ABRAM MAURY for the above boy and girl and in consideration of Five shillings in hand paid by JOHN THOMPSON by these presents doth bargain & sell unto JOHN THOMPSON his heirs the above mentioned slaves and their increase as aforesaid; To have and to hold the slaves with their increase to JOHN THOMPSON his heirs, Provided on Condition that if ABRAM MAURY shall pay or cause to be paid to JOHN THOMPSON his heirs the sum of Eighty three pound six shillings before the first day of January Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and ninety six then this Indenture shall cease and be determined; In Witness whereof the parties have hereunto set hands & affixed their seals the day & year first before written

      THIS INDENTURE made this first day of December Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven Between JOHN THOMPSON and his Wife, ELIZABETH of County of Culpeper of one part and ABRAHAM MAURY of said County of other part; Witnesseth that JOHN THOMPSON and ELIZABETH his Wife for seven hundred & fourteen pounds current money paid by ABRAHAM MAURY to JOHN THOMPSON in hand, by these presents doth bargain sell and confirm to ABRAHAM MAURY his heirs a certain tract of land lying in County of Culpeper and in the GOARD VINE FORK containing by Survey Three hundred and fifty seven acres and bounded, Begining at a white Oak saplin and runeth thence South 51 degrees West 83 poles to two white Oaks, thence North 45 degrees West 110 pole to awhite Oak, thence South 85 degrees West 106 pole to a Chesnut Oak Stump, thence North 65 West 68 pole to two Chesnut Oaks & two red Oak sprouts on a Hill side, thence North 50 degrees East 336 pole to COLO. JOHN SLAUGHTER's line, thence along said SLAUGHTER's line South 35 degrees East 227 poles, thence South 37 degrees West 100 pole to two red Oaks, a corner to ROBERT STEWART and JOHN HOPSON, thence North 65 degrees West 24 poles to the begining; Together with all buildings woods and appurtenances to the same belonging and all rents issues and profits of the premises and all estate right title claim or demand of JOHN THOMPSON and his Wife, ELIZABETH, in or to the premises; To have and to hold unto ABRAHAM MAURY his heirs; In Witness whereof JOHN THOMPSON and ELIZABETH his Wife hath hereunto set their hands & seals the day and year before mentioned

      THIS INDENTURE made this 14th day of December Anno Domini one thousand seven hundred Eighty eight Between ABRAHAM MAURY & MILDRED his Wife of one part and FRANCIS THORNTON, THOMAS POSEY, JAMES LEWIS & JOHN THORNTON of the other part; Witnesses that said ABRAHAM & MILDRED his Wife in consideration of the Execution of such Trusts & for the ends intents & purposes herein fter declared and in consideration of Five shillings in hand paid by said FRANCIS, THOMAS, JAMES & JOHN to said ABRAHAM, said ABRAHAM & MILDRED his Wife do bargain & sell unto said FRANCIS, THOMAS, JAMES & JOHN their heirs all the Negroes and Lands with their appurtenances and all the Cattle and other property according to schedule hereunto annexed, To have & to hold the said Negroes & Lands with their appurtenances and all the Cattle & other property aforesaid to them and their heirs, upon the Special Trust and Confidence, nevertheless, and to these intents and purposes that said FRANCIS, THOMAS, JAMES & JOHN shall dispose of all said Negroes Lands and Cattle & other property or as much thereof as may be sufficient for and twoards the better payment and satisfaction of all the Debts due by said ABRAHAM to GRAHAM FRANK of London, CLAY & PERRY of Liverpool and JAMES DUNCANSON of FREDERICKSBURG and the surplus of the said Negroes, Lands & Cattle & other property if any there should be after the full discharge of the aforesaid Debts to the proper use & benefit of said ABRAHAM & his heirs, And said ABRAHAM and MILDRED his Wife for themselves their heirs do warrant and grant to and with said FRANCIS, THOMAS, JAMES & JOHN their heirs that they said FRANCIS, THOMAS. JAMES & JOHN may enter into posses & enjoy the said Negroes Lands & appurtenances and Cattle and other property without the trouble or denial of said ABRAHAM & MILDRED his Wife their heirs; In Witness whereof the said parties have hereunto affixed their hands & seals the day & year above said

      We ABRAHAM MAURY & MILDRED his Wife do desire & acknowledge these presents with the property herein mentioned (to wit) Marcus Glaucus now in possession of BENJAMIN MAURY, Jesse Joe a Malatto boy, Venus & her increase, Rachel & her increase, three hundred & fifty seven acres of land whereon we now live in Culpeper County, one acre of land lying on the Road that leads from FREDERICKSBURG through THORNTONS GAP with a Stone House built thereon, Six thousand six hundred & sixty six acres of Officers Rights of Virginia in the Western Country, also Eight hundred & fifty seven acres on LICKING in the DISTRICT of KENTUCKY, three horses, eleven black cattle & ten sheep with all other property of every kind & denomination which I now possess or may hereafter until the Debts due to GRAHAM FRANK of London, CLAY & PARRY of Liverpool and JAMES DUNCANSON of FREDERICKSBURG shall be fully discharged as mentioned in the above Indenture shall be esteemed & considered as a schedule to the said Indenture & shall bind & effect us in the same manner as we are bound by the said Indenture & the property of every kind herein mentioned shall be applied & appropriated as directed & expressed in the above Indenture; In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands & affixed our seals this 14th day December in year of our Lord 1788 Sign'd Seal'd &Deliver'd in presence of

      This Indented Deed of Trust from ABRAM MAURY and MILDRED his Wife to FRANCIS THORNTON, THOMAS POSEY, JAMES LEWIS & JOHN THORNTON together with a schedule thereto annexed was partly proved by the Oath of JOHN THOMPSON one of the witnesses thereto & ordered to be Certified; And at a Court held for the said County the 20th day of July 1789, This Indenture & Schedule was further proved by the Oath of JOHN S. SLAUGHTER another witness thereto, which is also ordered to be certified; And at a ourt held for said County June the 21st 1790, This Indenture & Schedule was fully proved by the Oath of GEORGE GRAY, another witness thereto & ordered to be recorded Teste JOHN JAMESON, Cl Cur
